The only people who are surprised by this are assholes who think “he was such a nice guy, don’t ruin his life by sending him to prison.” Because they think that a rape is a simple fuck-up, and not an indication that people who see women as objects have no reason to change their behavior. Especially when we let them

You’re right, it’s reverse racism!

Don’t pretend that structures of power and institutionalized oppression don’t exist. It makes you look incredibly foolish. Racism is about systemized oppression. Systems of oppression don’t target white people. I really hate that I have to share a racial identity with assholes like you.

What is code for, “I need you to know that I loved and respected Muhammad Ali for all the right reasons.” ?

Maybe I’m wrong, and I’m sure I’ll hear it if I am, but why must people always remember and keep in mind that a black person is black, on top of whatever it is they’re known for? Maybe this article is a reaction to people hiding behind a phrase of “transcended race” to really mean, I liked him even though he was

>Fuck anyone who sees in color.

Today I would like to transcended my job. Someone help me with this?

Isn’t it possible though that someone like Ali can be a catalyst for change? Meaning that white people who were otherwise racist and anti-black at the time may have opened their eyes and changed their opinions about black people because of Ali’s charisma and influence? I think in that context the term “transcending

it’s basically “they were so good we didnt even CARE that they were black!!” its so awful

you are stuck on this and your attempts to use it as an explanation to what is probably your own racism is transparent af.

black people preferring the company of other black people is not racist.

Really great article, Kara. I get what they’re trying to say but to me when someone writes or says “transcended race” it just feels like they’re saying “we really liked them even though they were black” or “good thing they escaped that whole being black thing otherwise we wouldn’t have paid them any attention at all.”

Fuck you, Logan.

...at recess, where Logan reportedly likes to practice speeches about Trump.

...Logan told CBS 6 on Friday. “The First Amendment says I can wear my hat.”

Hey, you know what else is bad for small businesses? Gigantic chain like Home Depot that move into mid-sized towns and drive those small hardware shops out of business.

I think you’re totally right—because most rapists aren’t dudes in an alley with a gun, they’re our friends and dates and colleagues who think of themselves as “good guys” and good guys don’t rape.

It’s not actually understandable. If my kid raped someone I would not be on their side. I would be angry and devastated and sure I’d fucked up majorly.

This seems as good a place as any to dump this: so a few months ago I was reading a beer bottle label, and it said something to the effect of, “British hops, whose tangy, bitter flavor . . . ,” and it struck me for the first time how odd it is to use the word “whose” in something not of the animal kingdom.
