Which is why I don’t argue. I order it the way I want it and if the cook refuses to cook it that way, I leave. BTW, hasn’t happened yet.

Actually, when deconstructed, the transaction is far simpler: I’m paying him money to cook food that I will then consume. He can judge me all he wants, as long as the meat on my plate looks like I envisioned it when I placed the order. I am not doing it out of spite or to purposely “offend” him with my “rudeness”. I…
And he has authority over me...how?
“...you may as well eat it as it is intended”
I worked for several years as a Store Systems Integrator at Whole Foods and was in charge of day-to-day price/scan accuracy and auditing.
I think saying “no nude pictures” is a pretty good policy. Instagram is kind of a family-friendly type place. It leaves no grey area for abuse, it doesn’t infringe on anyone’s rights, it allows people of different belief systems to peruse, and it makes the entire thing guaranteed SFW. I like it.
Check out her site’s source code and you’ll see the song is from “freemp3.se,” which means she was too cheap to drop $1.50 on a download. Real supporter of the arts. 👌
I wonder if Arabelle secured licensing from Rihanna to use her song on her website: http://arabellesicardi.com/
He’s taken work from men and women before, they only state its misogyny because they want to be more of a victim and see it as all the menz against them... kind of pathetic really.
There is literally nothing misogynistic about this except that you desperately want it to be for your narrative.
Nothing. Also the original piece is lazy and derivative so it's all kind of a wash.
This misuse and co-opting of misogyny to complain about this is a giant fucking disservice to women and the actual misogyny they have to endure. There is no indication in his lack of attribution that he has a bias against women. He doesn’t need to attribute his work to anyone. The law is clear. Dick move? Judgment…
PS9 this is really not accurate—I know you want it to be true and that’s perfectly understandable but it’s irritating to see someone repeatedly mangle the law in order to justify a desired result. Taking a picture of a performance is NOT the same as making a copy. It just isn’t, sorry and nothing that you posted…
Thanks! This was very informative.
I feel like there is a false analogy comparing this to the Apple Music deal. With Apple, there is an agreement that every time song X plays, the artist gets a cut. Apple wanted to stop paying that agreement on the grounds that they weren’t charging for it, which is their burden to bear, not the artists. With the…
EXCEPT where you sign in agreement in exchange for being give access to move in the event space to photograph, including places regular audience or unsanctioned photogs can’t get.
Speaking from a career of selling photographs on behalf of photographers who regularly shoot famous people:
It wasn’t about copyright. I think if the guy liked this photo enough to use it in his own work, then maybe say who the original artist is. Tell people, and say ‘hey I loved this and wanted to incorporate it inot my own work. That’s the right thing to do. If someone took a very famous piece, obviously you wouldn’t be…
He didn’t create a derivative work, though. “Derivative” in this instance is a term of art that essentially means “exact duplicate”. It’s at odds with how the adjective “derivative” is commonly used so I can understand the confusion, but the copyholder’s right to create derivative works (ie., make an identical copy)…
Religious Jez reader, first time commentor. I’m disgusted. Overkill’s criticism is relatively tame, and the fact you - a “professional” journalist - can’t either sit and take it (your response to all other comments on this ridiculous and offensive post) or come up with an intelligent rebuttal is appalling. I’m…
