I'm not gorgeous, but I think I've generally been one of the prettiest girls in the room (which yeah, is something I used to check when I walked into a room). There are other girls more beautiful than me, but I've been able to date anyone I wanted. And I took it for granted that guys would always have crushes on me

Fantastic idea for a subblog. From the comments, sounds like you need to host your own version of Pissing Contest for crazy travel stories.

As someone who grew up in a very liberal environment, it's not just Republicans. Plenty of Democrats who get upset about rape culture shrug off prison rape as justified, or worse, a punchline.

This made me sad, sad enough that I put away my phone and pulled out my laptop so I could write a proper response to you.

Great article. I don't know much about the band, but it was so inspiring to see her genuine passion and talent shine through in what she said. Took a look at the guys and their outfits and I can definitely see everything she was talking about. Very impressive.

Even better — by "refuses to be subservient", they mean "wanted to be on top during sex":

I bought crayons, I'm on it!

No offense taken at all, just genuinely curious.

This is a really great point. I think we have a hard time seeing women as the abusers in a romantic relationship.

Why do you think you would get blasted for pointing that out? I think it's a pretty common feminist complaint that, as a result of patriarchal gender roles, our culture either doesn't think men can be victims, or thinks it's funny if they are.

Taboo is not why people love porn. Sex is why people love porn. Beer is legal and not taboo and people still fucking love it.

I got a little choked up too. Amazing to see an educator truly care about making sure kids are safe and responsible.

Sure, but I don't believe that objectification is inherently bad. Its only a problem when that is the only option available to women, whereas men are allowed a much greater range of identities to inhabit (actually, I'll go a step further and say that it does a disservice to men to not see them as sexual subjects)

Yeah, the "OMG A GIRL" reactions are extremely annoying and all too familiar.

It's always so weird to me to see the gender ratio whenever I play pickup sports (10:1 male:female). In high school, I remember most girls playing sports. I was always below average at athletics. And now that I'm in my 30s, I'm usually one of the only women out there even though I'm not really that good. Is it

But I think that "ultra feminists" are a straw man — the entire reason why this story is cool is because we all acknowledge that it's pretty rare for a team of girls to beat a team of boys at athletics. Any reason why this topic in particular?

I'm genuinely curious what your point is, and want to discuss it with you. I don't think anyone would disagree that boys are on average stronger and faster than girls after puberty.

Ah, I remember those days back in middle/high school when my girls team could beat the boys team of the same age. As the trolls think they're so brilliant to point out, puberty kicks in and by the time you're 20, guys are faster and stronger and that's no longer the case.

Thank you! Podkayne of Mars was one of the first Heinlein books I ever read and was gifted to me by some family friends who knew I loved science fiction. I always hated the scene where Poddy thinks about how ridiculous it would be for her to be a Captain, and wouldn't she really rather have babies or just be a

Nice article, thank you for the link! That bugged me when I saw Frozen as well.
