Sure, there are exceptions, but they're not the overall trend. We can argue whether or not it's okay to have most portrayals of women be sexualized, but to deny it even happens or claim that women get equal screentime to men is ignoring facts.

Movies are a whole 'nother form of media. The movies and tv shows are definitely trying to draw in female viewers with some sweet Hemsworth/Evans/Arrow-dude fanservice. This is a trend that I am 100% on board with, and to be honest, I kind of thank Twilight for that.

The problem is when the only representation you see of women in media are over-sexualized ones. It's fine to be objectified — as you point out, superhero movies/TV is particularly full of hot dudes with abs meant for women to drool over.

Yeah, her videos are so mild. People make way more inflammatory feminist videos about movies, books and other media, and fans of those media manage to avoid losing their fucking minds over it.

The comment section for any article about Sarkeesian will be full of angry people yellling about how horrible she is. I guarantee you can go to any mainstream feminist site and see plenty of articles about how great sex is with the comments completely empty of anyone saying that all penetrative sex is rape.

But the gaming community has definitely reacted very strongly to her, it's not just this bomb threat. I have seen (in this comment section, even) tons of self-identified gamers get disproportionately mad over the things she says.
