Yes, older platforms had issues. The F-15 started off as an impressively mediocre platform in terms of capability. Numerous upgrades along the way turned it into an excellent aircraft.

We shouldn’t have to live with it. Proper testing and development could have eliminated many of the problems. Build it first and test it later it the reason for all the problems.
