Wow!  I’ll have to try this next time.  The conventional wisdom I’ve always heard is that a food processor can’t incorporate enough air into the cream to get whipped cream.

A friend of mine once proposed an all-pie Thanksgiving feast, and that idea has been stuck in my brain since.  Maybe a pot pie type casserole with turkey, stuffing, gravy, etc. in it?

All I want is for people to be courteous to folks like me who drive the speed limit.  I have a small car, and I know it makes you feel all big and macho and dominant to tailgate me in your huge pickup so that all I can see in my rearview mirror is grille, but IT IS NOT SAFE and you are not personally immune to injury,

I don’t know how widely available that service is, but we’ve done it in London several times (super helpful when you take an overnight flight!)

Not every moment needs to be “productive.”  Rest and relaxation, in whatever form, are also necessary and valuable.

My partner and I spent a weekend in another city so he could meet up with his buddies for a sporting event. We were invited to a couple’s house for breakfast the following morning. We show up at the arranged time to find another couple is already there and “sorry, we already ate all the food we made.” They offered us

There’s no ethical way to eliminate factors like this, but you do what you can to minimize it, and this study does a good job of that.  A study doesn’t have to be perfect to be useful.

Everybody told me the laxative would be horrific, and I bought the diaper cream my sister suggested, but I didn’t find it to be a big deal at all.  The bigger issue for me was not being able to eat for basically two days!

I am also a freezer tape evangelist and was just about to spread the gospel.  It can be hard to find, but it’s great!

This is a great way to do it. My parents would definitely listen to a doctor before they’d listen to their kids. My sister and I tried for years to get my mother to drink actual water every once in a while, but she didn’t do it until her doctor told her to and helped her come up with a strategy to get it done (a big

Homemade food gifts can be a great option if you want to give something from the heart, but money is tight. Something like chocolate bark is super easy to make and cheap to ship, but you can customize it a million ways. I know a lot of folks who don’t make homemade treats and always appreciate them as a gift.  I think

OMG, The Fly!  Horrifying to watch AND heart-wrenching at the same time!

I refuse to choose between carbs; I love them all.  Also, British people would like to introduce you to the glory that is the chip butty.

My partner and I are going to put a little of our vacation savings toward some things for the house, such as a new BBQ and some outdoor chairs.  Also considering painting.  If we’re going to be stuck inside for a while, it seems like a good idea to make our inside a bit nicer.

If you had a great mom and this feels strange to you, then maybe it’s not for you. My mother cannot express emotion and has never hugged me or told me she loved me; her only interest in me is that I be thin, “ladylike” and pretty (but not so pretty that I upstage her). And I’m finding the conversations described here

Yep, getting started is the hurdle. The best advice I ever got (for exercise, but applies to other tasks, too) was to put on your exercise clothes, get on the machine or whatever, and just do 5 minutes. If you really don’t want to continue after that, then let yourself be done, and don’t beat yourself up about it. But

I recently started an exercise class that uses bands, and I like their adjustability.  The class is for 40+ people and I’m one of the younger, fitter people in there (I guess there’s a first time for everything).  Everybody in the class can use the same bands--you just use a shorter length to get greater resistance.

What a great article.  Thank you.

I wonder about that, too. I’m not diabetic, but I know I need to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner to keep my blood sugar more or less stable. But I also wonder if some people don’t really pay attention to their bodies very well. I’m remembering a conversation I had with my ex one evening in which he told me he’d been

I have the DVD-only deal, too.  It’s part of my exercise “hack” if you will--I only watch movies if I’m riding my exercise bike in the garage, where I also have a small TV and DVD player.  It makes exercise a lot more fun for sure.
