Fine. It was a character arc. It was just an incredibly poorly done character arc.
"Batman sadistically tortures criminals until he realizes he shouldn't for some reason" isn't a character arc. Or if it is, it's certainly not one that Batman needs or that tells us anything enlightening about the character.
I actually think the Star of David Superman shirt is kind of cool. I mean, he was created by two Jews…
Except that Bailey clearly *was* shown as being part of the problem despite his "niceness." I suppose a cop or guard could watch the show and come to that conclusion, but that would be a complete misreading of the text.
If that's what the writers were going for, they failed, and ended up writing a more interesting story.
Ah. I went back and heard it in the bar scene, but it's not in the closing credits. At least not on Netflix.
Season 5 has a lot of flaws that I think are too often overlooked. The main problem is that every conflict is introduced too early in the season: Glory, Spike's crush on Buffy, Joyce's health problems, and Riley's…whatever are all introduced in the first five episodes, and it leads to the season dragging in spots and…
I started watching Season 3 live concurrently with binging Season 1 on DVD, after having read about the episode "Peter" and watching the finale of Season 2.
Yes. I don't even remember why people hated it, but it's really one of the best examples of the plot of the week interacting with both the main arc and the emotional arcs.
*remembers that all the Observers are white men*
I don't hate the final season, but I think the biggest problem with it was the world-building. This article is right to point out how detailed and lived-in the alternate universe felt, but the Observerse (a term I am making up now that I can't believe I've never seen used) was flat, confusing, and boring.
What episode was this? I don't remember the closing credits ever being different.
Ugh, Larry.
There's no judgment in brainstorming
Unpopular opinion: "Into the Dalek" isn't very good. Everyone in the episode, including the Doctor, acts like a good Dalek has never been seen before, even though at that point New Who had already had like, five good Dalek episodes. And at least some of them were better than this one.
Parts of it are annoying and I feel they went a bit too far with River's amoral nature, but the ending is beautiful and was the first time I actually believe the Doctor loved River.
Yes, I had a really hard time warming to Capaldi's Doctor given what a needless (and at times weirdly sexist) dick he was. It also frustrated me that Clara got so much of the blame for that season's problems, when almost every flaw she had that season was also a flaw of the Doctor's. And I don't even like Clara.
May I ask why not? I occasionally enjoy shows about unforgivable assholes. UnReal is great. But it's not exactly what I want from Doctor Who.
Yeah, Amy's whole story was about growing up. Having her decide she just couldn't travel with the Doctor anymore was the appropriate ending. The "old lady Wendy" scene they gave Clara in "Last Christmas" would have made more sense for Amy's arc. That and the lack of any development with her and Rory's relationship…
