and I think stories like this one will ultimately taper off as travel abroad becomes more common and more mainlanders do it younger.

I am aware of various efforts to this end, but none are available yet and all face hurdles. I'm actually hoping to see the successful cloning and implanting of kidneys, livers, etc. in the next decade or two, but would still be satisfied to see that happen within my lifetime.

Not sure if this counts as an invention per se, but replacement organs from cloned tissue. Would help a huge amount of people facing organ failure/replacement issues.

Great description, except that I wouldn't regard her as evil at all. Amoral possibly, but she does what she needs to in order to get the job (defending everyone) done against often impossible odds.

I've never played the game. Actually I just checked and it does pop up in the comics, which seemed contrary to what I heard Kirkman say in an interview. After a quick search, the following is a quote from him on Talking Dead:

Kirkman, the creator of Walking Dead, has stated that it takes place in a world without any concept of living dead, hence no use of "zombie" — the word didn't exist prior to the outbreak, and survivors just use whatever term makes the most sense for them. This also explains why it took everyone some trial and error

I don't think the Cylons were on a "humanity is dangerous and needs to be stopped" kick. It much more personal than that.

Yes, it's pretty clear that the Cylons had a grudge against humanity right from the start — long before the "skin jobs" were created.

Really the best* nightlife in DC has moved to 14th Street NW & U Street directly north. Also the H Street strip NE is really becoming interesting. Walk around, see what interests you.

I thought it just meant she's inherited traits from each — note the red "tough" guy in both her and the dad (with hers looking like a younger version).

But wouldn't that have made Hera less of a unique snowflake (keep in mind Tyrol was not the actual father of Callie's son)?

I had a problem with it too (among other issues), I just tried to rationalize if there was a way Murphy actually *could* know.

Maybe they could...except would raise another issue.

I just presumed that Murphy had been briefed on current events after waking up from cryo-sleep, but before her dad was ushered into the room. Coop had been awake for a bit, and would have filled in the station staff on what he had gone through.

Did you click on the "skip this ad"? 'Cuz there's a cute kitty running around right now.

Sauron didn't make the three rings of the Elves, and therefore had no influence there. And the rings of the dwarves had been lost or destroyed (yes, those could be wrecked by less-epic means) by the time of the books.

True, Gina Torres wouldn't be a typical representation. But considering that the Amazons were supposed to be of Greek heritage, the typically-portrayed fair skinned, blue-eyed Diana seems a bit off anyway. Instead, we could declare that Ms. Torres' WW could come from a Themyscira more exposed to all sorts of women

Le sigh, I wanted Torres to play Wonder Woman, but if Vixen is an option....

You do know that bit with Eowyn killing the head Ringwraith *is* in the book, right? Although it was handled somewhat differently (e.g., you don't know it's her until the reveal), that loophole in the prophecy remains the same for each version.

Because the world is built for righties, most lefties have developed some level of ambidexterity out of necessity.
