Check your AC voltage. I've sometimes seen household voltage at 128 - 130+ volts. There are bulbs for commercial / industrial buildings that are rated for 130v. That could be part of the problem you are having.

If all else fails, and you still can't read the names of the TV shows you are trying to select from your media player in bed late at night (glasses off) and have tried the pinhole technique, grab your cell phone and open your camera app and rock it Geordi La Forge style... True story!
