Good for him, and that’s great. I also don’t really see how it “lessens the blow of” any other current threats to queer people, reproductive rights, etc.

Republicans don't need a filibuster proof majority to push their agenda forward.

Republicans can get more done with 50 Senate seats then Democrats can with 61, 57, 55, 57, 57, etc.

Whenever people are listing off all the things Democrats can’t/won’t/shouldn’t do, I’m just like “Lol, remember me when I’m in the camps, I guess!”

Log Cabin Republicans are basically the "Feeding My Own Face To Leopards" party.

It’s so bizarre to me that they won’t even attempt something that isn’t a guaranteed win. At least go down in the history books as having pushed the righteous bill that didn’t pass or the Hail Mary federal land ploy that only bought another 2 weeks rather than just... nothing.

.

The problem with Democrats is that it’s a party full of referees with nobody on the field. Everyone’s got a list of things that might not work (and therefore shouldn’t even be tried), but nobody's willing to actually support any action.

I don't think it's really worth worrying about the attack ads. They say Democrats are baby killing socialists every election, and Democrats respond by trying to shift right to prove them wrong.

It would also be pretty difficult to get legislation past this court, but we’re apparently putting all our eggs in that basket anyway.

Also, any legislation would have to get past the same court.

How did Republicans do it?

I just think Dems have to do something in the meantime. There’s no guarantee they’ll get enough votes to pass legislation and there’s a pretty good probability that this same supreme court would just slap it down anyway (not that they shouldn’t try!) I just think that it’s important to be trying more options than the

No description could prepare me for how light that tap was.

Also, aren't the British police much less armed than the US police? It's a lot harder to shoot people with a billy club.

Who’s helping to elect Republicans? Are you implying that anything less than uncritical enthusiasm is actually "helping Republicans"?

They don’t have enough control, yadda yadda, but weird that Republican “compromise” stuff can get through while actually Democratic agenda stuff can't.

Despite the fact that this strategy has never worked, it’s actually really problematic of you to suggest even minor changes to it.

And the last six years have showed us that, wow, everything I learned in civics class was apparently just working on the honor system. Republicans wouldn't think twice about breaking rules to get their shit done, and then they'd get away with it.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a time machine to go back to 2000, so damn...
