The best part is that in the end, it’s probably a win for us either way - we’ll likely get a cool VR world thing (but probably not made by Meta, someone else will sweep in and do it properly) and with any luck we get to see the demise of easily the most morally bankrupt bottom-feeder software megacorp as it’s burned

Oh yes, this is so very entertaining to watch. From the rebrand to Meta (which probably cost them more than 100 households make in a year) due to how disastrous the FB branding was going, to this wildly unsuccessful attempt at creating a metaverse (and all the lil’ funnies that have come along the way), there is so

But there’s something especially funny about this in particular”

To this day, my favorite birthday ever was in 2001. I got a transparent purple Gameboy Advance with THPS2 and Chad Muska’s signature sneakers. I played THPS2 on GBA religiously. I might even still have it. Don’t think my GBA still works though.

How did you see anything on the GBA’s screen? That game is so dark that the OG GBA’s non-backlit screen was basically a black mirror in most lighting conditions. That’s why Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow are so bright and colorful.

Unplayable!? That first Castlevania was damn near perfect. Though, it was easily glitched to use advanced magic.

Tony Hawk Underground on the GBA was my shit, I still remember songs from that soundtrack even though I haven’t seen the little cartridge in well over a decade. Excellent take, Luke.

Whoa are those actual 3D character models with black outlines in the JSR GBA port?

I regret making this just about skating games when really the whole GBA catalogue needed a shout-out for this kinda stuff.

Yeah, it’s a bummer the GBA understandably lacked THPS’s style via the iconic soundtrack, and the carrot at the end of the single player stick (the skate videos), but stripped to just the guts of the gameplay, THPS2 GBA was still pretty great, and I spent many a trip squinting over that tiny screen playing it

I remember one of my buddies raving about the GBA version of Tony Hawk 2 and I thought he was going a little overboard but all these years later I’m realizing that yeah, it is super impressive.

I know it’s not a port, but big shout out also to Flight of the Falcon, which was basically Rogue Squadron but on the GBA, and which in a technical sense was absolutely out of this world.

They were!

So before my grandmother died, she said she wanted her ashes placed in a lipstick case and shot into space. Looking at the headline, I was hoping Carrie and her family had figured out a way to make something similar actually happen.
