I actually thought that might be the case, but like you said, it’s so dumb that it’s almost perfect.

Destiny has an in game justification, transmating is common, and something you do often. Heck, summoning the sparrow is just transmatting it right in front of you. Spawning on a new planet is done via transmatting. Same goes for weapons.

That said not every game needs a in game justification for loot. I’ll take fun…
