My parents were both heavy smokers and my mother had many fine qualities but Julia Child she was not. My mother would serve her quick dinners and, because it was the 1970s, the food was pretty bland. They salted their food like they were preparing hard tack and setting sail on a 2-year stint in the British Royal Navy

I’ll have to look for the Salad Supreme.

It’s been drummed into me that if I let a tomato get below 55F then I am a bad person and do not deserve good things, so freezing goes against my conditioning.

My Catalonian great aunt used to mix 7up into sangría. Decent lemon-lime base.

This whole blood/system acidification is a current fad in your Goop level wellness scene and a big runner in alternative medicine. It’s why you’re seeing alkaline water all over the place.

Just tune it out.

No, it doesn’t. The carbonic acid hits your stomach acid (which is HCl and usually around pH 2) and then acts as a base because it’s amphoteric (able to act as an acid or a base). If anything it will increase your stomach acid pH (make it more basic) ever so slightly. It will not affect your blood pH in any way. Your

Is there a shelter either for battered women or the homeless anywhere nearby?  Fresh fruit is a big treat.

If you walk into a garage they can say “Looks like you’ve blown a seal.”

The bigger risk with bottled water in your car is the plastic leaching into the water due to the heat.

Similarly, it’s called ‘the handle’ or ‘the funnel’- buying booze in 1.75L bottles and refilling the 750ml and smaller bottles at home. Also useful for glass airplane bottles to stash in your golf bag or other places (I’m not judging, neither should you).

Too bad we never got that Corolla!

I swear that Toyota’s current design language is called “Sad Clown”

Add to the list of things that you should have in your car but not keep in your car:

“Things” have been depressing for me since November 2016, but the confinement itself has been fairly enjoyable so far, and January 20, 2021 looks closer ever day.

The thing about vegans being wealthy pisses me off so much. Like you said, vegan diet is a staple for a lot of the world, specifically because it’s cheaper and easier to produce than animal products. Also, end the subsidies for ranchers, and see how long that cheap beef lasts.
