Yeah, SS should have done a better job of knocking that throw down. It was offline a little bit, but traveled enough of a distance that it’s the SS’s job to corral it. I basically agree with everything you say, there.

I think there’s a question of what made the runner able to make 3rd. Lots of times, long outfield throws get (I think unjustly) scored as errors if they happen to kick off the runner or short hop the fielder or something. I’d score it 2B, E8, 8-6-7-2 PO. Not that I’m the best judge or anything, so I’m prepared to let

... THEN WHAT!?!?

One of the giveaways is “faux outrage,” which, if we’re being pedantic (and if we’re talking about language, I am), would mean outrage that the person expressing doesn’t feel genuinely about. The correct term would be “misplaced rage,” since the rage is genuine, just unnecessary (in that poor fellow’s mind).

“...but China is trying hard!”

I was at this game with some friends I’m visiting in Baltimore, and it was actually really entertaining. Decent footballing action, regular expensive beers (seriously, just sell Natty Boh cans for $5.00 and you’ll make money, guys), and an incredibly annoying DJ handling the music (seriously, Chris, not every single

No, not grade inflation. AP Calculus BC is harder than Algebra, so the kids who take the AP class get an extra 25% or so to the GPA value for the course. It’s inflated in the sense that it’s a bigger number, but it’s not actually inflation because the course is so much harder than the other.

I’m fond of the term, “beanbag,” myself...

Yeah, I read through about half of that thread and skipped the rest once it got really snippy. I think you gotta just let that one roll off your back. There’s a real conversation to be had on the topic, but I think that we’re all still not ready to have it yet.

I’d’ve gone for Sheffield Wednesday Manning, myself...

Someone ollied off of it...

Eh, it’s more joke than anything else, really. I guess if we’re dead set on imparting facts, it would be that “tort” is the word that relates to insurance and ”torte” is a little cake-pastry thing.

I myself have said for a long time that we need better cakes in this country...

Perfectly reasonable for the runner to ask for time out. Once granted, the ball can’t be put back into play without the pitcher possessing it on the rubber.

I read that as “nickel flipping” and was like, “are we talking closest to the wall, or heads/tails betting, or like a golf game or something?”

I’ve been watching Line of Duty lately, and it’s great! I’m also a fan of Taggart, the Scottish police show. I can’t telly you how much it’s helped me understand Scottish people...

I feel like the Red Sox and Fenway Park are famous/powerful enough to get some real consequences out of it, especially for the nature and infamy of this news story. I’d love it if there were a little equality in the way the individual crimes were adjudicated, but kind of expect that the Red Sox could convince a judge

I read it in an overwrought Arnold Schwarzenegger voice...
