X/Y was starting to show issues, but when ORAS came out a lot of it was forgotten because ORAS was a good remake. Theeeeeen Sun/Moon happened and... the issues were becoming very apparent.

Not every game with companions need to have romancing options. I’m actually having a hard time thinking of one since Mass effect. Granted, my memory is terrible and obviously I haven’t played all games. But it’s frequent enough that it seems like just about every RPG with companions has it.

I would say they started going south when Square Soft merged with Enix. Like the worst traits of both companies with little of the good. They’ve just had a slow acceleration speed to get to where they are now.

I disagree with PC not cutting into Playstation’s market. The majority of games on both platforms come to PC as well.
