Who wants to know, who wants to know about him?
This August is brutal. I’ve preordered Agents of Mayhem, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and Mario + Rabbids. After missing its targeted date by 6-7 months, Limited Run Games’ release of Skullgirls should finally be shipping in August. Sonic Mania and Windjammers are calling my name, although I’m thinking about waiting…
Someone posted untagged spoilers on a message board I read "divulging" the entire plot to Toy Story 3. He said Andy was stricken with cancer, and the movie ended with his toys being buried with him.
For voice chat in Splatoon 2, producer Hisashi Nogami says “Voice chat can only be used when playing with someone you know, such as in private matchmaking; voice chat with someone you don’t know in random matchmaking won’t happen.”
"Sir, this is Colonel Glover. I'm sorry to disturb you at this hour, sir, but we're at Q-2 status. It looks like we've found that lost consignment of Easter eggs. Yes, sir, pretty sure. They've turned up in Seattle. I'm getting confirmations on this from the Seattle Police Department. Seattle, Washington, sir. Well,…
I don’t have a UHD TV at the moment, but that should change in the next couple of months once my wife and I are in our next place. We figured it made more sense to build out a new home theater once we had the “new home” to match. It’ll be some flavor of 65" OLED. Atmos is a big question mark.
I always figured I…
A friend of mine bought a used 4-track at a flea market, and there was still a tape inside by T. Money and the Crew (featuring the smash hit "Shirley (I'm Talkin' About)". I wonder if T. Money was backed by Storm, Misty Knight, Luke Cage, and Manifold too.
I’m in the same boat. I’ve un-docked it a few times to do little errands in Breath of the Wild so I can game next to my wife while she plays Overwatch, but otherwise, we always keep it docked. I can see myself taking advantage of the portability when some JRPGs roll around, and I’ll take it with us the next time…
Holiday Inn is represented up there. Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, etc. are all under InterContinental Hotels Group now. The corporate names reshuffled from Bass to Six Continents to IHG. The Bass name was already on the way out when I started consulting on web projects for them way back in 2001.
My version of that is:
I just want to say how extraordinary this oral history is and how much I enjoyed it, even as someone without all that much familiarity with the Chicago scene.
It's definitely a thing on my mother's side of the family, although most of them wound up moving to the Phoenix area from Minnesota rather than just visiting (…and one group moved back).
Tiny nitpick: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a first party title. (That’s not to take away from your fantastic post that I agree with 100%, of course!)
"Ebullient pop-rock band Los Campesinos! probably isn’t the first source you’d think of for a down-tempo, reflective, acoustic-driven ballad."
Target and Walmart have dipped their toes into the used game waters. Best Buy has a much larger selection, at least in my neck of the woods. Places like Amazon and eBay are still probably your best bets.
I'm a SC native too (half my life around Charleston; the other half around Greenville), I'm pretty sure I'll die if I don't get BBQ at least once a week, and the list of BBQ joints I've eaten at is a mile long. All sorts of places across the state have red sauces — tempted to say ketchup factors in more often than…
The hope was to change locales with bigger bugs every season, carrying over as much of the cast as they could. Wall Street in season 2, Silicon Valley in season 3, Hollywood in season 4.
CBC Radio 3 is my go-to station, even all the way down here in South Carolina. I've always been kind of a Canadaphile, but there's just something about Radio 3 that digs its hooks into me, and so many of my "new" musical discoveries are completely owed to that.
I was obsessed with Mega Man 2 beyond all description. I remember being crushed as a kid when a friend of mine rented Mega Man 3 and I finished it in one sitting with minimal effort, thanks to that compulsive MM2 overplaying.
Good news! That Dog has a new song (“Mean What I Say”) on iTunes, and a new album is on the way. It looks like it’s already been recorded and is just a matter of getting it out there somehow.
