Those aren’t mutually exclusive statements. The negative attention pre-dates its release.

Two sad facts:

Growing up, my family used to dress up in our Sunday best and drive across town for dinners at Red Lobster.

We lived just outside Charleston, SC, where fresh, local seafood is not exactly in short supply, and yet Red Lobster and Captain D’s were the seafood places we went to more than everywhere else

Golden Chick seemed to almost completely collapse, at least outside of Texas, and that’s too bad.  My wife loved the place more than any other fast food chicken chain.

I had no idea so many people disliked peppermint bark.

Interesting that it’s so disliked overall in this poll but is a favorite in so many states: 11 states list it as their #1 favorite, and 20 states have it in their top 3. But I guess the states that dislike peppermint bark really can’t stomach it? It’s the #2

It’s a minor point, but a quick Googling would seem to confirm that Black Panther is a 2018 film rather than 2017, so there wasn’t a year with four films pre-Endgame (right?).

The article (at least at the time I read it) says “$0.003", not “$0.003 cents”. The dollar sign signifies “dollars”, not “cents”.

Mate, he’s a sarcastronaut. And he rides an ironicycle.

Looking around, I guess PDQ doesn’t offer their Thanksgiving sandwich anymore. (Maybe 2021 was the last year they offered it?) Its turkey was battered and fried, which set it apart from most other places.

There are 12 unique cheeses. The back of the box lists which cheeses you can expect, although it’s a surprise what you’ll get on any given day:

Extra mature cheddar
Goat cheese
Mature gouda
Mimolette
Mustard gouda
Smoky cheddar
Black pepper gouda
Spiced apple cheddar
Sweet English cheddar
Black truffle cheddar
Cheddar with port

Pretty much. When there were only one or two Marvel movies a year, they were an event — something to get excited about and really look forward to.

Since you mentioned Avengers and Suicide Squad, did you play Guardians of the Galaxy? I wouldn’t put it in the same league as Insomniac’s Spider-Man games, but I had a blast with it and would very highly recommend it. I’m sure I’m in the minority here, but I’d rather replay Guardians of the Galaxy than Arkham City or

Honestly, the Xbox BC version looked pretty gorgeous. It’s admittedly been a few years since I last played it that way, but seeing it on the Xbox One X in native 4K was a completely transformative experience vs. having played it on the PS3.

For anyone keeping an eye out, I see Ironbeer a good bit on the ‘international’ aisle shelves at Publix here in the Southeast. It’s not always stocked, but it’s there next to Inca Kola (which I love almost as much as Ironbeer!) and company semi-regularly.

I’m with you.  Captain D’s doesn’t taste as fast food-y to me the way that Long John Silvers does, and I still make it a point to stop at one whenever I’m on the road.

Have you seen the R-rated cut that Vinegar Syndrome released? I haven’t seen the traditional edit — the only way to see the movie prior to what VS put out a couple years ago — but I thought the R-rated version was surprisingly hilarious.

I haven’t been following super-closely, but he’s been dying his hair for a few years. Earlier this year, he used his powers to make it permanent.

Dan Slott said the rationale with that (and with Val getting a shorter haircut and propensity to wear goggles) was to make it easier to distinguish which characters are which

Oh, that wasn’t meant to sound like I was correcting you or anything. Apologies if it came across that way.

I was just saying that I haven’t seen any locally-owned restaurants in my admittedly-very-medium-sized-market exploiting what you’ve described, but several national brands are out in full force. (Although I just

I haven’t noticed any local places doing that in my specific neck of the woods, but I do see It’s Just Wings (Chili’s), Cosmic Wings (Applebee’s), Mandrino’s (O’Charley’s), Dockside Charlie’s (O’Charley’s), Underground Chuck’s (um, O’Charley’s), and Coop & Run (yes, O’Charley’s).

It’s almost certainly less “too lazy to do a Google Images search” and more “Gizmodo doesn’t want to get sued by a photographer.”

The billion dollar breakup fee only applied to a specific and very limited set of circumstances, such as government intervention. “Musk changed his mind” wasn’t one of ‘em.
