Syndicated Simpsons episodes have had shortened intros for as long as I can remember, and like 10 years ago TNT started shows while the end credits for the last episode were running, presumably to get some more ads in the hour.

And you get the same commercials for the same brands. When I can sit through an entire 3 hour episode of Monday Night Raw, I see every ad Truth has ever made and the newest Pop-Tart ad 15 every single break.
