Whenever Sony’s on top they usually shit on customers, not quite as badly as this time, but it’s kind of been a thing. Really the PS3 era was Sony botching the launch, then spending 8 years trying to get people back (which worked, because it was/is a respectable third place). Basically what Microsoft is doing now.

Given that the nag screen is exceedingly persistent (and always shows up when I’m editing videos), I could see someone accidentally doing it, because Microsoft is making it easy, so people don’t have to actually do a lot of stuff.

Bzzzzzt. Content ID is Google robots flagging videos automatically. While many “copyright owners” (and I use the term in quotes because I’ve had false Content ID claims) will allow videos just fine, it usually locks your video until they do, which could be hours or weeks.

Frankly it needs to be a federal law because, while falsely calling law enforcement is a crime in most places, there’s jurisdiction issues and most towns won’t spend an extra thousands of dollars tracking someone down in another state and extraditing said person for what’s usually a misdemeanor.
