I’ve not much to offer in terms of chainsaw advice, but I just spent about two months of 2018 turning my neighbor’s maple into firewood that fits in my wood stove. The roots on his maple were starting to force their way into the back cinderblock wall of his garage (it’s built into a hill) so he had professionals take

Oh I see - you’re the sort of douche who thinks snapping bra straps is the height of humor and whines “can’t you take a joke?” when called out on your boorish behavior. You’re the sort of prick who likes to use phrases like “I’m not a racist but...” and “I’m just saying what everyone is thinking..” and “Not my fault

As a two-time cancer survivor I understand and appreciate the sentiment, but depending upon his treatment he likely won’t be able to ride it much. Surgery makes anything too bumpy intolerable, radiation can affect balance and chemo makes it damn near impossible to do anything. No matter what he’s going to be

Even if you really think this, not everyone is your uncle. And if you’d bothered to read the original article you’d notice the man’s only looking to spend $15K for the expressed purpose of MAKING MEMORIES WITH HIS FAMILY. Get off your high horse and show a little common humanity; your mealy-mouthed responses are just

First, you’re an asshole. Second, as a two-time cancer survivor the first thing I did after BOTH diagnoses was to go out and buy a Mini convertible. I knew exactly what I wanted and haven’t regretted a thing. You’re being a condescending prick to someone who badly needs encouragement, not coddling.

Steve, as a two-time cancer survivor I know what you’re going through and I wish you the best of luck. The most important thing is a positive mental attitude - decide right now that you’re going to defy your doctor’s predictions and live another forty years.

In theory, the PT Cruiser convertible should push all my buttons. I’m all about compact, four-seat convertibles with front wheel drive and manual transmissions. I even prefer 4-cylinder engines. But theory is simply wrong. Any PT Cruiser convertible is rejected for these reasons:

My dad had an ‘84 and sold it when the frame started rusting badly. These cars were biodegradable. CP

My Mini does this too and flashes the temp in the dash when it gets down to 34F.

My wife finds it hilarious that the end of Knuffle Bunny Free always makes me tear up.

Bingo.

Yeah, they did something: they voted for these politicians. That’s the very definition of support. You can’t vote for a racist, sexist homophobe and then claim not to support racism, sexism and homophobia.

Yeah, I deny these people exist. Where the fuck are they? You may find some conservatives who give lip service to the fact that maybe we shouldn’t be building Kiddie Koncentration Kamps and gassing migrants and promoting hate and discrimination, but then they go and vote for Trump and his ilk. They can clutch their

Any VAG product, period. I’ve been burned so badly by a VW I’ll never touch anything they make every again. Their reputation for being overengineered, unreliable and expensive is well deserved.

Ok, it’s not actually hideous. If you like wagons (I do!) and fake wood paneling (I don’t!) then this looks great. IMHO it’s just fine. It seems nice and clean, although the pictures are apparently 6 years old. Mechanicals seem in good shape as well. So what are we left with?

Im responding to this late, but it seems your point has already been firmly rebutted elsewhere in this thread. If you're enough of a masochist that you're willing to keep this thing on the road, have at it. But the consensus is that you WILL be spending a lot more on this than the original asking price. This is a

High mileage Benz is automatic CP. I don’t care if the engine is bulletproof and will run another 300k miles, the rest of the car is a collection of expensive parts about to break. My dad had a 500 SEL of this vintage and replacing a headlight cluster coat over $3k just for the part. That nice luxury interior has 300

Not to own a VW period. My extended warranty did squat.

This. The man embodied the hypocrisy of the GOP when he started laudung Reaganomics after initially dismissing them as "voodoo economics." Like most politicians he changed his position to whatever would bring him power. He didn't have to change his morals because he never had any.

This is an abomination: I drive my convertible year round and the top goes down whenever something is not actually falling from the sky. I could understand it maybe refusing to operate at -10C (although that’s still too nanny-state for me) but at +5-10C? That’s just stupid.
