Shitty cars, shitty employees, shitty management screwing the American people as much as they possibly can - when can we just kill this worthless organization?

I understand completely about wanting an automatic - sticks can be hard to find. I was buying a brand new Mini and the only thing they could find in the whole country that fit my requirements (base, convertible, stick) was a choice of black, gray or white. Considering Minis come in a wild variety of colors this was a

Yeah, I’ve heard the issue is a faulty coolant system that leaks onto the turbo unit and then you’re replacing them both. I’m in the base with the 3-cylinder engine and a stick and there’s just not that much to break. Oh, and power is MORE than adequate!

<snort> I’m originally Canadian and moved to New England in 2000. You don’t have actual winters down here.

Wrong. I’ve been driving convertibles in New England for 20 years and loving every second of it. With heated seats and sensible clothes you can drive topless whenever something isn't falling from the sky.

This. Minis get a bad rep because the turbos are fragile, but just don’t get an S. I’ve had two base convertibles and never had a problem. They handle like nothing else, can park anywhere, get fantastic mileage and will even come with an automatic if you must commit sacrilege.

It needs that warranty. Make sure you sell it before it expires...

Oh hello little Russian troll - how are you? Please give our regards to Putin when you have a chance!

That is fucking brilliant and it describes the pseudo-maverick McCain to a T. His whiny, entitled, white-privileged daughter is truly a chip off the old block.

Hmmm, this actually ticks a bunch of my boxes:

And Julias and Susans and Elizabeths (although she went by Liz). Oddly enough my wife is a Traci and she won’t.

Do NOT even THINK of getting an Eos unless you are a VW mechanic and have lots of time and money. Oh, and if you hate driving, like spending a lot of money on gas and love vehicles that wallow like a spavined goat.  Ask me how I know...

Yep, that was the one good thing about the Eos: the roof would stop traffic when you put it up or down. I’d drop my daughter off at daycare and when I got back to my Eos she and all her toddler friends would be lined up at the window to watch “the Transformer car” her dad drove.

Yes, the Eos is EVEN MORE unreliable than your average unreliable VW. Ask me how I know!

Jesus, for one of my exes to be as complicated and unreliable as my Eos she would have to be an absolute psychopath. Run from the Eos as they’re even worse than you’ve been lead to believe.

This. There’s a particularly American phenomenon of rural voters repeatedly voting against their own interests and getting more and more trenchantly regressive as a result. It’s not a new phenomenon - I think “What’s the Matter With Kansas” was published almost 20 years ago.

I do lead a hard life....

Meanwhile my Mazda5 is pushing 80K and I’ve never seen a warning light other than the TPMS. But yes, VAG quality is now approaching ‘average’ - isn’t that great?

That was actually Rhodey in the armor at that moment. And yes, I’m aware of how irredeemably nerdy knowing that fact makes me.

Yeah, I noticed! Every time I see a post claiming that “the GTIs are actually pretty reliable now!” I find myself thinking “that isn’t exactly a glowing recommendation, now is it?”
