I’ve got a similar pic of a 55" TV in the back of my Mini convertible. That’s the best part about drop-tops: there’s no stacking limit!

Have you ever known anyone with a VAG product that doesn’t have a litany of reliability issues to complain about? Everyone I’ve ever spoken to who owns a VAG product has sold it due to the cost of repairs. Not because their needs changed, not because they didn’t enjoy the performance or aesthetics, but because they

Having owned both a Mazda and a VAG product at the same time, this mirrors my experiences. The Mazda has simply been bulletproof and the VW was in the shop all the time. Couldn’t get out of that POS fast enough.

No-brainer for me: Miata. Despite the fact that I’m 6'2" and can barely fit in it. Despite the fact that I put my 5-year-old in my car daily. Despite the fact that my wife’s going to have to walk. Despite the fact that RWD and 3 months of snow a year aren’t the best combination. Partly because it’s a convertible and I

Yep, this. The practicality argument would seem to be a winner but the legendarily shitty VAG reliability means your hard-top, 4-seat hatch is going to spend so much time in the shop that you won’t be able to call it a ‘daily’ driver with a straight face. I had an Eos with the same engine and had three critical engine

Whoa there tex, hold your fire - he’s obviously mocking the lazy trope that the gun fetishists give lip service to about how all these horrific tragedies would be prevented by ‘a good guy with a gun.’ This is demonstrably false and has been proven wrong multiple times - and yet again with this shooting.

Fuck, you took the words right out of my mouth. I was driving to work a few months ago and noticed a lot of flags were at half mast. Asked the wife about it and she mentioned a recent local shooting that I’d completely forgotten about. It seems they’re a weekly occurrence, so why do we even bother flying flags all the

30+ year-old Audi

My dad had a green TR7 hardtop which I rode in often as a little kid. It was an insane car to own in Canada and it was garaged during our long winters. Even with two 50# bags of sand in the diminutive trunk the thing was a nightmare on slippery roads. That said, I have MANY fond memories of driving around with my dad

I understand everyone hates the look of the bumpers, but I kind of like them. I know for a fact that they saved my dad’s TR7 several times when morons driving their 70s-era boats didn’t see the little green coupe and rear-ended him. In every case the morons ended up with an accordioned hood and the rubber bumpers kept

That’s not the danger he’s referring to; he’s talking about the inevitable repairs, electrical gremlins and quirks that will cost a lot of money.

Shit, my dad had that exact car. I want. If the wife wouldn’t kill me I’d be planning at trip to Michigan right now.

My one laugh in this one was the Canadian girlfriend confirming her existence via Facetime and remarking “this isn’t the first time I’ve had to do this...”

You’re out of your mind if you ever walk into a dealership without a solid price above which you’re just not going to touch. If you walk in there thinking you’re fine with a $300/month payment the stealership will find some way to get you into a Rolls Royce for that and you’ll end up paying 3x its worth over 50 years.

The nicest thing I can say about this is that I really like the color. Everything else about it reminds me of my long-gone and (somewhat) lamented 1988 Chevy Sprint. It’s tiny, it’s cute, it’s probably fun to drive in small-car-fast way. It’s going to be a nightmare to maintain, though. And the price is just a hair

This is exactly what I went through: a lot of things I thought were no big deal at purchase, but became more and more irritating as I owned the car until I got to the point where I hated driving it.

When it’s become too big of a hassle - that’s really the only criteria. It’s almost always cheaper to keep an existing car running than to by a new one, but that’s assuming that only money is important. It is, but time is also important and so is the amount of enjoyment I get out of my car. If the car keeps breaking

I like 4-seat convertibles. If this was going for less than $1500 I'd consider it. At this price it wouldn't be worth it if it was in factory new condition. Not to mention all the many problems this ancient pile of rolling garbage is going to have. CP.

Read the whole post - I DID recommend a JCW!

I’m not sure what’s wrong with all of you - the answer should be simple. This man needs a Mini Cooper S Convertible. It ticks off all his boxes:
