I have a ton of issues with our (the U.S.) tax code and I agree wholeheartedly that it’s absurd how low the top bracket tax rate is and believe that SERIOUS overhauls Need to be made because so many filthy rich people have so many loopholes to exploit.

That is dumb and a oversimplification of a complex issue. People like Oprah and Bill Gates have donated billions of dollars to try and help the less fortunate. Is that a bad thing?

This article makes some great points, though there is a very clear strawman false equivalency made here between Jay-Z, who in no way needed to do this, and Kaepernick who is being denied employment in his chosen profession.

This.

Look, this situation was untenable. Something had to give. And when I look at this situation I place the blame, as I do with most things, fully on Maroon 5.

The teenager-level of thinking behind “he took money from a corporation, therefore he’s sold out his beliefs” isn’t particularly surprising coming from Mr. Haisley.

“There’s no meaningful distinction between that and what Jay-Z has done with the NFL”

is that Kaepernick himself has already profited from the very same move Jay-Z is using now.

Why not? Will the fashionistas sue me? Oh NOZ!!

Yeah, you run the stats on it?  The 200 was the Gold Standard-- it’s several orders of magnitude safer than the MAX;  the MAX type only managed a few thousand flights with two hull losses and almost 350 fatalities.

Dude everyone knows it’s the quality, not the quantity, that’s important.

In fairness, Pompei introduced the section that included the sleeplessness/caffeine chugging and the childbirth by calling Gase a “maniac.”

The only thing worse than a shitty retread football coach is a shitty retread football coach with a litany of batshit, self-detrimental habits that purportedly underscore their commitment to their craft.

Also that knot is way too big. What a goober.

Fueled by five or six 20-ounce cups a day from the Kuerig coffee maker that is an arm’s length from his desk,

I don’t really think that’s fair. I’d say the majority of their stuff is “recap” stuff, whether day-after game/training camp stuff or rumors/reactions to trades/signings/firings etc. Yeah, I stay away from all the “Athletic Ink” stuff because that’s just SI-wannabee puff pieces, but the regular items that populate the

Deadspin’s fuel is schadenfreude. So let’s not pretend anyone there is hoping for a huge payoff.

I am a very happy subscriber, The Athletic content is outstanding. I hope they do manage to breakthrough.

Rex Ryan: “Still looks good to me.”

take libby with you.

the only thing that bothered me about that movie is the notion that someone could discover cannabis and weight-training at the same time. In my experience, the two are mutually exclusive.
