I know this is kind of off-topic, but god damn... that P1 still looks spectacular. I know it’s old news and shit, but just look at it... it’s glorious.

I miss those days... I was a Subaru guy back then, and the Impreza owners forum was a great place for info like that as well. Then the WRX started getting imported, and the quality of the posts rapidly went downhill. It was like I was witnessing the genesis of the flat brim vape bros that we all know and love today.
Modena has a flag and coat of arms in the city’s colors - yellow (which is where the yellow background of the Ferrari logo comes from), and blue, but I don’t know that they necessarily have a “symbol” as such aside from that.
I lived in/near Chicagoland for many years, and I saw a lot of cool cars during my time there, but never an Integrale. Although, to be fair, I moved before they were technically eligible for import. That said, I live in PDX now, and I spend a lot of time in SoCal, Seattle, and Vancouver BC (which is a great place to…
I read this as “with the toilets WORN out”, not torn out.
Same. I’m totally here for the tail light setup, but the rest of it is a bit much. Especially the wheel lighting. That’s just tacky.
Move the rings back up to the top of the grille, and I’m down with it.
(•_•)
I’d guess that the solid horizontal beam through the grille is more of a safety requirement than a design feature (gotta put that bumper beam somewhere), and it’s probably not what the designers had in mind, but I actually like the way it looks. It kind of breaks up the giant maw and sort of accentuates the width of…
The logic behind the design is one thing - it’s the lack of symmetry that gets me. The old Honda wheels are ok because they’re at least symmetrical.
Two reasons - one, I just don’t like the look. I think that most of them just look too... I don’t know... busy. Just a personal preference. Two, and probably the most important - most of the OEMs who do directional wheels are too cheap/lazy to do two different castings for the left and right side of the car, so the…
I remember those wheels, and the ones on the later CRX Si. Honda really did have their shit together back then.
This is exactly my issue with them... if they were “rolling” in the same direction, then I wouldn’t mind, but on a mainstream/high volume model like the GTI, there’s no way they’ll have two different castings.
I’m hoping that they’re test/winter wheels. Given that the MK7 came with 18's from the factory, the ones shown above look a little bit small to be the OEM wheels.
some really nice wheels
Also, tangentially related - I worked in the car stereo business back when this thing came out... it was the first death knell for the 12v aftermarket business due to its ridiculous “football” (that’s what we called it anyhow) combined head unit/HVAC control unit. Up until then, most cars were pretty easy to retrofit…
I mean... I actually do call chickens and other birds little dinosaurs, but... yeah. This thing ain't a muscle car regardless of the numbers.
This description of internal combustion is literally the best thing I've read today. You're truly a treasure Jason.
As far as I can tell, it’s a development platform for manufacturers and a retirement plan for former F1/WEC drivers. I’ve tried watching it, but for some reason I just can’t get excited about it.
I disagree with this thing being a nice price, but I like your style.
