Which was exactly my point. AWD doesn’t mean shit if you don’t have the right tires. If I had to choose between FWD or RWD with snow tires and AWD with all seasons, I’m going to pick the snow tires every time. I speak from experience here - I lived in Chicago for like 25 years, and I owned AWD, FWD, and RWD cars, and

Yeah, but most of the “outdoorsy” types around here go skiing maybe a couple times per year, the other 99% of the time, they’re driving around in the city - where there’s rarely any snow - beating up our already shitty roads with their studded tires.

Yep. Same here. I can go down to my parking garage right now and find at least a couple of people still running studs in fuckin’ August.

Sure, an AWD car with snow tires or studded tires is going to be better at accelerating on ice/snow, but AWD alone isn’t going to help you when it’s time to stop. When it comes to driving in the snow and ice, I’d say tire selection and driver skill is way more important than the number of wheels driven. Unfortunately,

AWD does no good on ice. Studded tires? Maybe, but driving around with them all winter, tearing up the roads because you MIGHT get some sleet? No thanks.

Not sure if a CR-V is within the budget, but that would fit the bill nicely. I also live in Portland, and my wife (who is also quite short) and I have a CR-V... It’s AWD, it’s comfortable, it’s big enough to haul plenty of hiking/skiing/camping/biking gear, but still small enough to park easily, and as an added bonus,

You’d be shocked how many people around there think they need AWD... and studded snow tires. If you’re going up into the mountains, then sure... but in the city? Yeah, totally unnecessary.

Well, now I’ll know who the assholes are... even in the dark.

How long until Apple starts selling a $50 accessory case for the Apple Card?

I hate the MK2 Jetta coupe. There’s just something about them that never looked right to me. If this thing was a Jetta sedan, or a GTI, or maybe even a Caddy... or literally any other VW from that era, then it would be a lot cooler. Still not worth $8k though, no matter how tempting the interior.

I don’t disagree, but literally nothing about the current NASCAR formula is attractive or contemporary.

Does it really matter how this thing looks, or how much of a resemblance it bears to a real Mustang? I mean, does anyone think that the “Mustang” shown here has anything at all to do with the Mustang that you can buy at the dealership?

Exactly this - if you know, you know.

Corvettes. All of them.

I know it’s fun to hate on the Corolla and all, but I think the hatchback version - even with this silly Nightshade package - is a solid looking little car. If they actually do make a GRMN version of this thing for the NA market, it would probably be on my shopping list.

Absolutely. I especially love Last Exit as the opening track. One of my favorite opening tracks on any album.

I’m one of the apparent few Pearl Jam fans who actually loved Vitalogy from the start. I remember one of the radio stations back in Chicago played the entire album on the air prior to its release. I loved it immediately. All of my friends were pissed that it didn’t sound exactly like Ten or Vs., but that’s what I

God, this thing just makes my heart ache... it’s so beautiful. I don’t love that color, but the interior is lovely.

FACTS.

God damn. Just add a C5 Allroad Quattro into this mix and you've really got the Axis of Unreliability.
