In the 40-plus years of my entire life, I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a hot dog plain. The least I’ve ever had on it is some yellow mustard, and that was some middle school cafeteria bullshit. I honestly won’t even look at a hot dog these days unless onions are available.

Warm milk used to be what would get me to sleep as an infant. I would wake up crying in the middle of the night, and my mom take me to the kitchen, carrying me in one hand while stirring up some milk on a stovepot.

I thought the Rifftrax guys normally aimed at bad cinema. I went to a brewery viewing of their work on Twilight:New Moon, and my stomach hurt bad from laughing.

I can’t keep my eyes off of Juliet Rylance’s portrayal of Della on this show. It’s some magical combination of her husky voice and the fact that she’s the most professional and competent person in the room.  She’s got me entranced.

I was a big fan of the comic as a teenager, and went to see this movie opening weekend with my fellow comic book geek friend, both of us super-excited and hyped up. We were as excited as we had been for the Tim Burton Batman movie that had opened the previous summer. The opening motorcycle sequence was exhilarating,

I clicked on this thinking it was about the band Wishbone. I have a friend from college who was a huge fan of the band, and I was excited to send him a link to this article.

What was so Michigan about Pepsi Light?

He was so good as Cain on Supernatural.  He had this electric sense of danger about him, that I think really helped elevate the performances around him.

Man, I hated Lenny and Squiggy when I was a kid. They annoyed me so much that I refused to watch This Is Spinal Tap the first couple of years it was out on VHS, because I knew “Lenny” was in it.

Houston Enrons?

Yes!  Totally agree on Courtney Vance.  As a book reader, the sonar ops character of Jonesy was a pivotal character.  I loved that Courtney Vance nailed it, totally stealing any scene he was in.

I loved Hunt For Red October, and I wanted to give a shout out to Scott Glenn’s performance as the tough-as-nails American submarine captain.  Just great performances all around.

I think I’m past the age where I would ever aspire to wearing a denim jacket with no shirt. I’d probably be picked up for vagrancy.

They just reopened the return slots yesterday.

I had totally forgotten about the giveaway comics at Bob’s Big Boy.  I only went a few times as a child, but those comics were a plus for going there.

The COVID-19 pandemic afforded me the luxury of a lot of time with Adventures in the Screen Trade by William Goldman. I checked out the book from the library a few days before the March shutdown, and our libraries have not reopened, so I’ve had the book for almost five months.

I saw Temple first, my last time going to the movies with my mom (she was horrified by the heart-removal scene, and refused to accompany us after that). Last Crusade is my favorite Indy movie, and I still remember that glorious 70mm experience. I might have a different opinion if I was lucky enough to watch Raiders in

I was also 16 in the summer of ‘89. What a perfect time to get a driver’s license and enjoy the movies. Batman was at the recently opened (and now closed) Temple City Edwards theater. I saw Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade at the massive 70mm theater at the (now closed) Pacific Theater in Pasadena. And my favorite

My opening weekend audience of Batman had the opposite reaction. The biggest cheer of the movie came when the Batwing was silhouetted against the moon.

Donovan’s steakhouse in San Diego, for my birthday in 2006 with about a dozen friends. Our waiter recommended a 2003 Duckhorn merlot. It remains the first and only time I’ve ever had wine, where I had the sensation of three different tastes in my mouth. One taste on the first sip, another as the wine stayed in my
