I think you also have to remember that D&D were working on it from 2006 onward. That’s when they started developing it. So yeah, I suspect that they were a bit burned out and under pressure from HBO to prolong the series.

On the bright side, we get to spend the next few decades mentally writing our own alternate versions that massively improve on these last two seasons. It got quite chilly, did you see all that snow? Many people in Kings Landing would have frozen to death in that storm; luckily they had tens of thousands of smouldering bodies to keep them warm, so they were okay.

There’s “I don’t enjoy this thing” and then there’s “how could you dumdums enjoy this thing? Be more like me”.

Shows like this are much more fun to hate watch. Imagine being one of these people who spent a bunch of time thinking about the lore and the history of the world, considering the mysteries and how they would be resolved, only to watch it all be shat into an outhouse.

The biggest antagonist through the series was the Iron Throne, and it got the best death.
