This is a really dumb, obtuse hill to die on in such a sad story, but I can’t understand why you hugged a woman who did not want to be hugged.

I reached out to give her a hug.
hey, another anti-VAR Deadspin article! This one making a strained cancer-cold analogy. It’s funny that as more and more people and pundits are coming around on VAR and realizing that the real problem is vague or poorly worded rules Deadspin keeps digging in. If only they had something new to say instead of rehashing…
Yes, I recall the halcyon days of yesteryear when there were no weekly controversies in soccer based on disputed handballs and offsides calls.
It’s the same as last week, when VAR disallowed a gorgeous Man City goal because it decided that Raheem Sterling’s shoulder was offside by a couple centimeters.
And it isn’t mild contact! It’s extremely significant contact! I mean, yeah, it’s an unintentional glancing blow, but an outswinging corner kick abruptly changes path (look at how the redirection catches Ndombele [#28] flat-footed) and lands at the feet of Gabriel Jesus. He doesn’t score that if the ball doesn’t come…
I love how he tries and justify it by saying ‘mild’ contact.
The headline I would've guessed had I read the article before seeing the title.
“actually made some mild contact with his left arm.”
So change the laws of the game to be more in line with the original intent. Don’t get mad at VAR for correctly adjudging a player offside when they are by the current rules.
One of my pet peeves is when people confuse grammar rules with stylistic guidelines. Quite a few of these “grammatical mistakes” are simply style choices that may or may not be appropriate.
Man, that employer really was a moron. Things courts frown on? Firing somebody for serving is probably pretty high on their list.
Did anyone notice, or care, that the FIBA World Cup was held back a year to get out from the shadow of the FIFA World Cup? If I was a NBA star, I’d also not care to show up for this crap. Olympics or nothing, man.
This is a class action lawsuit, if he wins, him and his fellow offended will get a coupon for one free soda with a purchase of Friday’s Signature whiskey glazed sliders. His attorney will get $750,000 for his legal work.

Lottery tickets! They only take cash. At least in NYS.
If you don’t want to invite a lot of people, then don’t invite a lot of people. Inviting folks knowing they won’t come (and knowing they’re still pretty much obligated to buy you a gift) is a total jerk move.
how the hell is anyone supposed to know that without an explanation?
Because the ball hit Silva on its way to Agüero (and it’s likely that it wouldn’t have found its way to the open space in front of the Argentine without the deflection), the VAR decision is objectively correct.
