Are you implying that Jalopnik is the reason that Edward Snoden got away with his snooping?
1929 was a banner year for front-wheel drive cars. In addition to the Cord there was also the Ruxton, a FWD car with a straight-8. This 1929 model was serial #5 and the 1929 New York Auto Show car. My dad purchased it back in the ‘50s and at one point he promised it to me before selling to a friend who later restored…
A checker at my local Safeway has an unmolested X-11 with the original decals and a beautiful year-old copper patina of faded paint. He says it runs and drives well and he hopes to restore it someday.
There is someone in my town that not only has an Astre but an Astre Formula which has to be the only one left in existence.
That's from National Lampoon, it's not a real VW ad...
All of the speed markings on the speedometer of the movie cars were modified to read 10 mph more than normal plus as the road test below says an indicated 80 mph is really 75 mph. So an indicated 88 mph on the movie car would really be 78 indicated and thus a real-world 73 mph. So while Marty’s fictional Delorean…
Absolutely incredible engine. Believe it or not I worked on a Duesenberg engine in auto shop in high school. You see my dad had a ’31 Packard that had been turned into a hot rod back in the 1940s by dropping in a Model J engine out of a town car. WIth my dads help I hand-made the pan gasket out of cork. stripped and…
Doubly true for Audis. I had a $4800 B4 Audi 90 a decade ago and it seemed like I was spending $500 a month fixing the thing. When it gets to the point that the parts guy at the local Audi dealer knows your voice when you call you have to step back and think maybe it’s time to move on. I loved driving the car while I…
That’s easy to solve:
What sort of “things” are we talking about here? :-) About the only thing I ever do through a drive-thru is dry cleaning so it really would not matter much to me once I took care of the parking ticket thing.
All you need is one of those E-Z Grabbers and you'll be all set! Still probably not worth it for a SAAB but I should have thought about it when I passed on a bargain 190SL for that reason.
Same goes for anything not sold in the US. A $2500 car in Europe is still a $2500 car in the USA no matter how much money you spent to import it.
No but the Continental did have powered vent windows though which was pretty damn cool.
Pretty much every car ever built with a pre-selector transmission before 2007 or so. My dad had a ‘50s Talbot-Lago with one and it hardly ever worked right which explains why the car spent a lot more time sitting in our garage than it ever spent on the street.
