So I guess we now know what car Devo drove back in the ‘80s...

I would submit that not only is the Ekranoplan the most redicilous thing power by a jet engine ever, it is the most redicilous thing ever, period. And likely the most awesome thing ever too...

Most people today don’t equate Studebaker with speed but the supercharged Super Lark would do 140 mph, the Hawk 150 mph and the Avanti 160 mph, speeds that would still be quite respectable today...

I was thinking he had a really, really old Subaru in his hotel room :-).

I remember finding a 190SL advertised for something like $3k back around 1980. I was ready to buy it over the phone for that price (the going rate was $5k to $6k at the time). Why was it so cheap? It was right-hand drive but I would not have cared.

Sorry, either bad math or bad typing, my flight arrived at FRA 30 minutes before my flight to Paris was scheduled to depart.

Given that most modern cars run on gasoline and can’t drive themselves I think it’s going to be difficult for any of them to survive outside a museum more than 25 years from now. Gasoline is going to become hard to find should there be a big battery breakthrough (and the just-announced aluminum-ion batteries may be

Hard to say as the resale value of the expired Cruzes would likely be very low (zero if electric cars become the norm by the time you hit 900k) while the Tesla should hold it’s resale value much better if well taken care if as there are far fewer parts to wear out.

Also while Tesla originally software-limited these special 60s to the range of the proposed 40 they later removed that restriction free of charge so the 1200 or so 40 buyers actually ended up with fully-functioning 60s at a lower price. Still kicking myself for not buying one as I was seriously considering a 40 at one

The problem is that to get to 900,000 miles you’re going to need to buy 3 or 4 Cruzes...

Actually it’s not bad when you get used to it. Most functions can be taken care of by the Sync lady and the buttons can easily be programmed for the rest. The screen is lame so I do prefer the My Ford Touch screen on my Fiesta ST but the SES was ok overall.

Personally I’ve not had too many issues at FRA or CDG beyond the occasional long line to check in. If you were to ask me which airport I hate the most it would be KCI. Tiny little self-contained gates where you have to clear security to do anything beyond waiting in line for the tiny toilet (and many years ago you had

I have a funny story about FRA. I was flying Lufthansa from Sofia to Paris vis Frankfurt. Originally the connection was 1:25 but after I bought the ticket it was changed to 0:55. Thats a tight connection in a huge airport you need to clear customs at but it was too late for me to do anything. Our flight out of Sofia

I’m not so sure, it’s hard to beat this little beauty…

Whats interesting is that at my regular Ford/Mazda store I’ve bought 6 cars over the last 25 years (4 Miatas and 2 Fiestas) and have had virtually no negotiation over price besides comparing sales vs leasing (4 purchased and 2 leased is the score). This isn’t because they are a fixed-price dealer per se but because

I will repeat what I said to someone else who claims this is the same law:

The big difference is that the Federal law only applies to interactions between the Federal Government and individuals. (which can include "closely-held" businesses per the Supreme Court's re-writing of the law). The Indiana law was expanded to include not just those situations but also to include interactions between

Is there something wrong with the 225/45-16 Direzza ZII Star Spec? I autocross my Fiesta ST on those and they work great on track and on street.

Project Orion, a 1950’s plan to build a spaceship powered by nuclear-pulse injection, i.e.: tossing atom bombs out the back.

It’s not just drifting, a friend of mine who is in a similar situation autocrosses a late-model Shelby Mustang (stick shift of course) and does it well enough he’s taken home trophies at National-level events!
