It’s only ‘hard to reconcile the image of a loving, if acerbic, TV mom with the person who retweets right-wing conspiracy theorists’ if you’re also willing to be a hateful and bigoted person. The real struggle (for liberals like ourselves) is that we remain morally obliged to reconcile the two.

Tru dat, but the ‘polar bear’ was clearly punishing the captain for desecrating local customs (about dying outside and burial rites). So its pretty clear that Simmons is using the world of make believe to critically comment on a real life tragedy - he appears to think that colonial presence (or expansion) has defiled

Tuunbaq is apparently more than an Inuit legend though - it derives from a fictional Inuit mythology that the English (?) writer specifically created for the (re) telling of this true story. I’m not sure why Collins chose to do that either: he appears to be exploiting the Inuit’s for his own ends - and that appears to

The post should have also anticipated The Amazing’s In Transit on April 6. Their previous Picture You (2015) is among the best ‘indie’ rock albums of recent years, and is justly celebrated for its rich, intricate and expansive arrangements. Treat yourself by listening to the full album below.

Go outside and play boys.

As much as I like the show - which isn’t as much as everyone else - it really does like to belabor its themes. I’m surprised that the premiere wasn’t called A House Divided because (as the episode underlined again and again) their troubled marriage has now become an analogy for the motherland.

Tobias’s character - sitting next to Ciarin - subtly references their previous work together when he talks of Cesare crossing the Rubicon.

I didn’t like it much, but will continue to watch - it shows promise.

Everyone should watch Lennie James in Save Me just to see how over the top or in your face he can be.

Apart from the opening scene, this was a lame episode. Not sure why you liked it so much or thought that it added layers- last week’s episode was so much better because it was unhinged. This was generally by the numbers.

It could also be argued that Breaking Bad is a Weeds knockoff (although I wouldn’t want to argue it because despite a similar premise the tone and styles are very different).

Some of the episodes are fantastic though. I’m often taken by surprise by it as it honestly (and funnily) explores things like faith, friendship and addiction (amongst) themes.

While the AV Club is covering a second rate show like Divorce, it’s failing to give more attention to something genuinely funny and heartfelt - Crashing is really special compared to this steaming pile.

Yeah, that’s not the intended implication - merely that the allegations were caught up in it via media attention.

This whole episode (situation) is a clusterfuck on a Möbius strip.

sooky la la.

When Rawls called McNulty a ‘gaping arsehole’ he was openly declaring his love for him.

This whole season was a creative cul de sac: Discovery’s confused identity merely mirrored its tortuous path into production and trouble behind the scenes. I only hope they can steer this ship right again.

The second season couldn’t be any worst...so here’s hoping they finally know what universe to discover next time round.

No one has forgotten that - but you seem to have forgotten that his referential episodes are also relatively self contained.
