No, you aren't getting it. The reason there isn't a male birth control pill is fucking biology. Trying to alter the path of a single egg is way different than trying to prevent millions of sperm from impregnating that egg. That, and every effort so far to stop or otherwise make ineffective sperm renders the male

No market demand? Are you under the impression that guys *enjoy* using condoms?

Why are you reprinting racist slurs from the fucking Daily Mail of all places? Do you need page hits that much?

Hmm, that's a decent point. I also wonder if by "federally funded" they mean "paid for entirely by the Federal Government with no help from state/municipal governments, foundations, public/private institutions of learning", etc. I thought that was a bit sketchy.

I think it's lazy to make fun of ignorant people simply because they're ignorant. I cringe reading some of these entries, but really I just see a bunch of really lonely guys doing anything they can just to find some meaningful companionship.

I'd like to see a system where we just train doctors from the start like in the UK. While I'm making wishes, we shouldn't have the AMA artificially limiting the number of doctors out there. More doctors means more specialization, say in lactation.

One other thing: those numbers are way off. I made a post at the top searching through PubMed and Google Scholar and in some cases found a quarter million papers.

It's odd, I just did the following search in PubMed for "Human Lactation" and for "Erectile Dysfunction". I've provided the links so that you can do the searches yourself.

I don't think we need an additional year of med school just to tell new doctors and nurses, "don't be a fucking asshole to new mothers".

The cultural issues are important, but some medical questions are really much easier to answer than others. There's no male birth control pill for instance, and ED medication was an accidental discovery that was trivially easy to capitalize on.

We use model organisms from E. Coli to rats to monkeys all the time in the pursuit of human medical research.

I'd agree that's a much stronger argument. It's just when Viagra gets brought up, it's treated as a zero sum game and ugh old men shouldn't be allowed to have sex lives because they're old and disgusting and so on.

Viagra was an accidental discovery, the original use was to treat heart conditions. A problem that both men and women suffer from. There are plenty of problems with the treatment of women in the world of medicine, but pointing to Viagra is a really weak case.

Everyone remembers that medications like Viagra were completely accidental discoveries, right? Though women's medicine needs more support in all areas, this isn't a zero sum game.

Well, I can totally understand not wanting to take your work home.

Where in the article did Courtni say she agreed with what Lanza did?

She couldn't be bothered to pull Courtni aside and talk to her for a few minutes and see what was going on. Not doing her job in the slightest.

Was it too much fucking trouble to just talk to Courtni and see what was going on?

No, that's actually not true at all. Just because you're invited to something doesn't mean you want to go, and many times it creates a rather unwelcome social obligation.

Yes, because we're all pissed off about that.
