Doesn’t basic economics prove this false? Cars are not a scarce good in normal times and there’s plenty of competition. If Stellantis thinks they can make more $ overall and get more truck market share they’ll pump out plenty of Rams even if they have to discount them slightly, and GM/Ford will have to respond.

4) Politicians don’t like to spend money repairing infrastructure. It isn’t sexy. They would rather spend money on some new trendy program (universal basic income, free public transit, college loan forgiveness, etc.).

CAFE could be achieved by selling smaller and cheaper cars? Better yet, adopt Euro 5 and abandon the idiotic CARB laws?

So does this actually apply to trucks and SUVs now instead of fucking everyone else?

Are they going to bring light trucks fuel economy standards to parity with passenger cars?

A little self awareness might be great on the part of you MAGA chodes. NO reasonable evolved life form wants anything to do with you. Maybe take the hint.......

Because something something freedom?
I dunno.
I asked Jalopnik that question some time ago, and didn’t get a decent answer.
Particularly as all cars have computers in them, there’s really no need for speed limits, in that a car should limit itself, especially once it gets on the free way or near a school zone, or

Harsh punishments often do not work with clueless arrogant dudes that think that they will not get caught. murders know murder has harsh penalties and yet they still kill.

Then you’re using it for truck stuff. It’s not truck-hate, it’s wanting truck-reasonableness. Most of the F250's on up I see don’t have a hitch, but I do see plenty of Punisher-skull-but-it’s-stars-and-stripes-but-it’s-also-made-of-guns stickers, and one of those on earth is too many.

The regulatory question these incidents provoke could more likely be this:

Speed bumps on residential streets are good, actually. I hope the city adds 5 more to replace the one he tore up.

There is NO trucker shortage, only a PAY shortage.

Going slower actually might mean less stop and go and often less congestion.

Overlanding” vehicles are such hypercapitalist nonsense. It’s just car camping. Just buy a used SUV and $1000 of camping gear. Entire family is good to go.

What percentage of your vehicle operating hours would you think match this usage scenario?

Look again. That little light below the driver side headlight is the turn signal for the 4th gen Accord

What you said is kinda blaming the victim here... even if the driver wasn’t signalling a turn the car slowing down with its brake lights on was more than enough to alert anybody behind to slow down so it’s 100% the truck driver’s fault.

You really think people take these off road?  They are primarily purchased by suburban women and large sons to drive 35mph over speed bumps in crowded parking lots.  Only reason they’re not hated on this site is because the cargo area has a cover on it.

Oh god, so much this. I learned this the hard way when I switched from a Renegade to a JK. The first day I got the Wrangler, I took a cloverleaf on my daily route at what I would have considered “normal” speeds in the car-based Renegade. It felt like the Wrangler was about to go up on 2 wheels. My driving habits
