I think the whole point of this season was to set-up for next season's big bad, so I'm not especially disappointed that the theme for this season went nowhere. Especially if it ends up being the machinations of Omega, like it's been heavily rumored to be.

I'm not too keen on The Ultimates being an influence, and it sounds pretty bizarre comparing Ultimates to "the very first" incarnation of The Avengers. They're two completely different animals.

I got into the beta a while back. I'm glad they're starting to expand beta testing hours to more than just mornings during the weekends. It used to be, by the time I got up the sessions would be almost over.
