Yeah, this honestly seems like a no-brainer. I’ve no idea what all the furor is about, this is sound political strategy. That’s too rare among Dems, we should be encouraging it.

Even if you don’t trust the R’s (and you would be dumb to trust them), giving up CHIP funding gave away a lot of their leverage. And I still can’t find where the Dems gave away anything. This was a good deal.

But if that’s true, why even try to use DACA as leverage at all? If the problem is Republicans are just going to blame Democrats no matter what, then isn’t the leverage that Democrats have never had any leverage, not that they are giving it up? I really don’t understand the point of your comment.
