I know I’m a little radical when it comes to my rejection of gauges—I’d love to see a car stripped down to one warning light for low fuel and one for impending mechanical disaster—but I think we’ve hit a point of information-saturation in cars that’s more annoying than convenient.

“Fan communities” in general, tend towards being garbage. Any time you have people that tie a significant portion of their own identity with a fictional world, you are going to see things stray towards zealotry.

A veggie burger tastes, feels and pretty much everythings differently than one made of beef. Sometimes, when I am somewhere with a really good vegetarian burger, I will order that instead of the beef. I don’t do it because I am trying to avoid beef, I do it because eating what you like is fine and good.

Because hacks and fools everywhere operate under the assumption that their audience is on the same wavelength as them. They display things like this ad, whether it be for the purpose of “calling attention to the problem” or “ironically” and they assume that everyone automatically knows the intention.

You have disenfranchised young (mostly) males that think they have no chance for success/happiness and they are all set to latch onto any ideology that promises them that. I would venture to guess that a sizeable chunk of the people that played Battletech, never even touched the RPG aspects in the Mechwarrior RPG setting.

Lying to the same set of rubes and haunting the same echo chambers continuously eventually leaves you convinced that you are right in the first place.
