I wouldn’t call him a coward (btw was he an actual cop or just of security guard/school guard?). It proves you can’t rely on the “good guy with a gun” because people have fantasies of being a hero, but then realize how scared they are in the situation.
Basically they expected the cop to go and confront a kid with an AR 15. Had he done so; he would have probably died. People think he should have died trying. That’s kind of asking a lot; even of a police officer. Should he have been willing to take that risk to protect those kids? Probably.

If they’ve been trained to respond to school shooting, they’re supposed to confront an active shooter to minimize deaths. Those are usually tactical police, though. I don’t think this guy was trained to handle a person with an assault rifle.
When I heard this story my immediate reaction was ‘that poor guy’. Whatever was going thru his head at that moment, he’s always going to be branded with this.

It’s a red herring. In most states, age limits on gun purchase are already in place. Where things get more fuzzy is that adults are allowed to purchase guns and gift them to minors (ostensibly for hunting); I very well could be mistaken but they do not seem to be touching on this aspect.
