It’s funny, when the film came out, everyone seemed to love the addition of Vision. I find him a bit boring in general, even in comics, but I don’t even half of the disdain the reviewer seems to have here.

Now that you mention it, yeah
Out of the recent spate of comic book adaptations, I feel this is the only show that actually grabs onto the source material with both hands and runs with it.It feels like an extension of the comic, bristling with the same vibe. Umbrella Academy is okay, and sure it uses the same whimsical characters, but chooses to…
Jesus Christ, is this going to happen every week? Build a bridge already.
I totally agree. The show seems to lean away from the embodying the comic when it comes to visual language, rather than lean into it - something which is only more pronounced when you compare it to something like Deadly Class, which grabs it with both hands. It has all of the quirky, idiosyncratics in Pogo and Mom and…
I found the direction to be... weird. The way everything is shot feels uninspiring and pedestrian.
I’ve watched the first episode of Umbrella Academy on Netflix and... I dunno, something is off about the direction. The way the camera moves feels decidedly daytime TVish to me, and while this is such a relatively small thing, what’s with the font they use for titles and such? It’s so un-comic like and rote.
I’ll…
Once is better than not at all - unlike poor Torb. And this occurrence has every opportunity to set a precedence, especially how her toolkit now has her feeding off of shield weapons. I’d bet money other teams saw her get busted out in legit play, saw how she helped the Gladiators capture that point, and were rubbing…
Junkrat?
You’re not impressed that they made her more than a niche character that actually gets used in high level play now, as opposed to one that never did? OK.
I’ve been watching recent streams of the full game preview people with EA Access or whatever have been playing since yesterday and there actually is a strong storytelling element in the game, which they had obviously gutted out of the private/public demo. People should reserve judgment for the full release.
Battle Royals and “Loot and shoots” are different types of games but the player base overlaps way to much.
Isn’t it a little disingenuous to be publishing a story about the outdated “beta” on the weekend a preview of the full game has gone live?
Because the storytelling, not to mention a whole lot more visible content, is actually present in the latter, as opposed to the public demo where it was purposely cut out.
Great ep, easily the best yet - but if that’s where this series peaks, it’s still going to be a great ride if everything keeps consistent with what came before.
Also credit where credit is due, that may have been one of the most fun drug trips put on film or TV, though maybe just a little too long? I love that they…
Yeah, not sure what the reviewer was seeing in Chico as he was pretty one note. I won’t miss the character.
Love nothing more to come to a comment section about a Deadly Class review to instead seeing a dozen or so people acting like jilted ex-girlfriends about The Magicians. It’s getting tiring guys.
While we’re at it I love how A.V. Club can pump out two different reviews for Game of Thrones but no coverage of NCIS: Rhode Island? Gosh
No one would’ve blamed her if she decided to lay low to recuperate from these traumas.
Happy for Dua Lipa, she seems really genuine.
Hot take: Genie looks fine?
