Lightfall’s Deluxe Edition jacking up the price by $20 over Witch Queen’s Deluxe Edition is pretty shitty. Your pointedly misleading title is worse, Adrian, and speaks to wider issues proliferating on Kotaku and throughout journalism as a whole.

God, as a longtime reader this is fucking heartbreaking to read, but it’s so wonderful to see all the folks from the Old Kotaku days coming back to pay their respects. While Mike only occasionally covered subjects I was personally interested in, he was, in Luke’s words, a rock here on the site, a consistent reminder

I mean, they directed and produced a crap ton of episodes of both Community and Arrested Development. But if you’re talking just movies, yeah, I’m with ya. Winter Soldier was phenomenal and the rest was fine.

Many people have trouble differentiating between the moral and the legal. It’d be nice if they weren’t so different, but here we are...

I mean, I always tried to give kudos when a game supported its use. Never realized I was such a fringe case!

This is sort of related, but I was in a writing workshop while finishing my own novella as my senior thesis a few years ago. I pointedly avoided any signifiers that indicated the three central characters’ race in part because I didn’t want to step on any toes as a cis white man, and, despite the two deuteragonists

You said it yourself - this might be a cynical, bad faith interpretation. That right there is an admission that you know there’s probably a perfectly reasonable counter-argument that you conveniently omitted from your article in an effort to steer the narrative one way: the click generating, socially inflaming way.

Agreed. When I want to get invested in a moral dilemma, I watch Star Trek. When I want awesome spectacles, Star Wars. And when I want campy weirdness, Stargate.

(And when I want all three, I watch Farscape.)

I love Star Trek AND Star Wars.

How is there no Mel Brooks here? Have you seen Young Frankenstein?!

I don’t speak Japanese myself, I just heard someone discussing the novel (which is one of my all time faves) on NPR a while back.

Probably an allusion to the writer, what with the whole metamorphosis angle. Although I think I remember one analysis of the title of the Japanese novel Kafka on the Shore also stating that Kafuka (the anglicized Japanese name) when translated loosely means “good” (Ka) and “opposite” (Fuka). Which could allude to the

I hope you can appreciate that this is an incredibly privileged perspective. If you truly do practice what you preach, it sounds like it’s quite easy for you to turn down opportunities. Which is great, you get to maintain your principles. This is neither possible or the case for a lot of folks, and it’s unfair to hold

You, and so many, many others, are more interested in hurting shitty people (Riot) than rewarding decent, talented people. Your priority is, in short, vindictiveness, plain and simple. Never mind that higher viewer numbers also translates directly to the creatives involved garnering more work, recognition, bargaining

Glad I could help! I noticed your post below mine, and, while this may be subjective, the game does not feel half-assed to me. Beta? A little half-assed. Full release? The equivalent of L4D plus so much more. The campaign alone is massive, something like 32 different missions. And then there’s the deck building,

I’m seeing an utter lack of anyone commenting who seems to have actually played this game, and glaring omissions and/or a lack of details from Zack. So let’s clear this up a bit (this coming from someone who has been playing a lot of this game for the past two days):

I wouldn’t put too much stock (pun intended) in that. They’ve faced worse price drops, and if you look at the past few years they’ve done nothing but grow... Agreed, finally some consequences, but an emphasis on “some.”

Did JAB just google “famous feminists” and pick a name that popped up? A saint of the Brack household? Jesus Christ, he comes off as just so incredibly full of shit.

You can thank YoshiP (Yoshida) for that culture. The guy is such a mensch.

If this doesn’t end up being some sort of G Gundam-esque, international tournament made up of shoddy and reductive national stereotypes, I want nothing to do with it.
