Without getting too doxy I got to meet him at an artist residency program. He is really nice, smart and freaking talented. His work has to be seen in person to get the full effect. And he is happy to tell you about the pattern designs where they were made and who made them. I’m beyond thrilled to see this.

Baroque was a higly stylized art movement highlighted by vivid colours, pronounced lines, etc. which created intensity of the subject. Basically, nothing subtle or minimalist.

The attitudes of many ungreyed folks can be trying. It often sounds very smug and superior. But I know quite a number of Blacked commenters who lost their privileges and never got them back. Some went “Whaaaah, howcouldthishappentoME!” Some threw a fit and left.

❤❤❤ needs more stars.

I’m glad to see I wasn’t the only person who was offended and kind of disheartened to see someone say “but....but....but he made her!”

I want this to be the tipping point but I doubt it. Mostly the people who faced longterm consequences were ones people in power were ready to see go.

I feel it’s important to point out that Tig Notaro was doing stand up without C.K, she was on her way, on her own before him.

Yeah, that was my thought, too. I come from a Melbourne, Australian suburb called Frankston which is notoriously rough. People are always trying to call it “Frankghanistan.” I say, it’s awfully white and ignorant for anyone to be jumping on that bandwagon. I prefer “Funkytown.”

Florida continues to make me feel ashamed of it every election.

Outdated map - Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin went red this time around.

As a Washingtonian I’d like to see Idaho in there. They’re trying?

Oh for the love of god, everyone, this map is probably from the Bush years.

Just shows you how much of a fucking moron Trump is, and this fucking mouth breather has nuclear launch authority.

I mean, it’s called the fucking U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS! It’s not even a thing you had to have learned at any point that it’s part of the U.S., it’s right there in the name.

Yeah, I felt the same way about these two. The one about the woman who slapped her kid especially got to me, because of how she went on to work with the system and let other families hit their kids.

Okay, as someone who takes public transportation because I can’t afford the car, who sees families with strollers all the time on it, this isn’t classism. No. The bio family was being dumb and thoughtless with *weeks* of time to think of it and that doesn’t bode well for the baby.

As someone who also works with victims of child abuse and neglect, I really don’t know what Jezebel is trying to accomplish with this series. I’ve seen struggling (but well-intentioned) parents in the system that just needed some education and support to be truly great. However, all the parents interviewed so far in

Thank you for your story and I’m so glad you survived. I feel great compassion for these women, but I did notice how completely centered their stories are on themselves and their own feelings. Maybe that’s just human nature...the second story especially seemed like it was narrated by a very hurt person desperate for

So...next time they’ll probably do better. Maybe they didn’t realize there was that much gear. Maybe they planned poorly but are willing to learn. Maybe they don’t have a car, in which case a car seat would not be a particularly important purchase.

Seriously, I’m kind of blown away that she still expects to be seen as a parent after over a decade of separation. The self centered nature of this thought process is not striking a sympathetic note with me at all. Most of the stories in this series don’t.
