There is a vast chasm between not loving the first entry of a series while reviewing the third, and harboring a seething, undying hatred for the live version of a sport that a video game seeks to emulate.

Relevant? Sure. Invalidates his review or opinion of the game? Not a chance.
I’ve enjoyed past Zelda games that were at least more narrative driven, including Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, and Twilight Princess, so I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect that I might enjoy a new Zelda game. However, BotW represented a significant shift in approach (as has been well documented) from recent…
I should rephrase that to “If there’s nothing compelling, to me, driving me onward...”
I get that, for a lot of people, that is the entire appeal of this game, but for others, like me, the idea of “just go explore!” sounds entirely unappealing. This isn’t to say that the game is bad or that others are incorrect in their assessment of the game, just that not everyone wants that kind of experience from a…
Disappointing to hear the port might not be optimal. This is the second time I’ve opted for a later-released PC version of a PS4 game beginning with “Ni” this year and in both instances, the waiting has been a bit anticlimactic as a result of mediocre ports.
Yes, I’ll certainly agree that is much too large. I haven’t been in too many living spaces (even in small apartments) where you’d have to turn your head to see all of a 60" screen.
And of course people can insist on using a too big TV in too little a room and sit too close to the screen. That’s possible too. But it’s also pretty stupid.
Sony (or Microsoft, respectively) is definitely paying the devs to put their games on Plus, but if the devs aren’t making enough to cover their costs (and aren’t otherwise trying to break into the space for the first time and garner some publicity), then it seems like a bad choice to accept the offer to be on Plus.…
Since then I’ve written similar articles about so many major open-world games that I’ve lost count. It’s to the point that people make fun of me for it. That’s okay. That’s just the status quo, trying to assert itself.
I will fight...
but as a friend
I absolutely love Fire Emblem, but I’ve tried to get into musou games a few times and just didn’t click with them. I really thought Hyrule Warriors would be the tipping point for me but I think I played about 3 hours of that before I gave it up as I just wasn’t having fun.
you’re always in someone’s way
That was the exact quote that, as I read the article, I went “ah shit, here we go...” I totally agree with the rest of your sentiment - at the end of the day, devs and pubs are companies with costs to operate and profit to be made. However, the last thing we need is a reunification of gaming styles and loss of…
Agreed on all counts. Bottom line is that this little portable console has caught a lot of people’s attention and they are loving using it, so they’re looking for more to buy. It might be a tougher environment if there were tons of AAA third-party titles, but as it stands, indies (and hopefully soon Virtual Console…
I give you serious credit for writing this article. Even if I don’t necessarily agree with each and every point made, it’s very well written and, more importantly, it takes guts to acknowledge when these systems have personally impacted you.
That is a sweet Monokuma plushie. Love it.
Agreed, and we need significantly more brackets on the way up as well. As someone mentions below, the tax rates do not distinguish the top 2% from the top 0.001%, and if anything, the latter group is getting more significant tax benefits and cuts that their effective rate ends up significantly lower than the rest of…
What I’m saying, which I thought was implicit but my apologies it wasn’t more clear, is that when people like the OP are objecting to anger, my interpretation is that they are reacting to people’s actions in responding to it, not the internal feelings they hold with respect to the issue. In other words, in the absence…
