Oh god, this makes me want to car shop even less...what sucks is that my family typically asks me to be the one to go with them.  I will rip apart any dealer that fucking does this to me.  While on the phone with the person I will drive to the dealership (if I have range) and start yelling at managers.

Super easy to prove, the phone companies refuse to enact the technology for their end users to look up the routing data or answer any requests about routing so that they can file an actionable complaint.  Ask me how I know!
