I’d argue the difference is that race is a social construct where as gender is a actual thing. There have been brain scans that suggest that trans people’s brains actually work in the same manner as their true gender.

She can be both not-lying about feeling black and still be lying about actually being black. We have no way to judge the first, but there seems to be a pretty strong case on the second.
The problem is not that she’s a white person leading an NAACP chapter. The problem is that she’s a white person who seemingly lied about being black and then headed an NAACP chapter.
