Trump will resign before he gets convicted and Pence is no Spiro Agnew. He has just enough plausible deniability.

I am positive there are thousands and thousands of houses/condos/apartments in the bay area that sit unoccupied or are AirBnB year round.
Yes exactly - my background is in architecture so I worked adjacent to planners (although I am by no means an expert in it) and Hamilton’s JUST BUILD STUFF DUMMY is so fucking stupid. Also like, what are the electric costs there? Are you willing to spend the money to build sustainably to keep those costs down? What…
The City of Toronto is looking at implementing an occupancy tax to help curb the purchase of properties for use as AirBnB rentals or by foreign nationals looking for somewhere to park their money.
Parts of New York have done this successfully. Part of the purchase agreement of the condo states that the owner must live there for a set number of years (typically 2) before they can rent it out.
Again, I hope you are right, and I very much appreciate all of your posts and points of view.
Perhaps you mean that Mueller will produce enough damning evidence that even Trump’s base will turn against him and the Republicans will have no choice but to remove him?
I am positive there are thousands and thousands of houses/condos/apartments in the bay area that sit unoccupied or are AirBnB year round. Force all those on the market and see what happens. I will be sure and cry copious crocodile tears for wannabe real estate mogul house flippers who suddenly realize 1.5 million…
Mountain View needs to just build massive towers of nothing but capsule dorms & coworking spaces. All those little brogrammers fresh out of college are already used to living & working piled on top of each other.... and they ain’t going out much, to give back to the city whose space they’re wasting.... and they move…
Yes - and they need to be mixed income. That means some wealthier people will have to pay more to live in the same places as poorer people - and that’s somewhat unpopular with people in power. But it works. Mixed income is responsible in that it keeps tax money flowing to the schools and police department and…
I think Twitter (and Redditt, and Facebook, and YouTube, and Kinja, sure) is/are giving folks on every side of every issue false internet confidence in the realities they would like to inhabit.
It will correct itself in the next several years. Qualified people will find it’s not worth the hassle of living there, so the jobs will leave, easing the crisis.
This.
You need laws to prevent people that dont actually intend to live in the area from buying up homes and apartments there. The more houses you build the more will be scooped up by speculators and slum lords looking to further gouge the rent market.
I certainly hope that you are correct!
Last summer I almost got a job in Palo Alto. It was an upper-mid level job in healthcare. I got to the point where I was invited out for a final interview and decided to search around to see what housing would be like and where I could live with what the salary range might have been. The only decent place I could…
Hey, at least these sorts of people are consistent in planting their feet directly into their mouths; we might be in for a lengthier (but no better) argument if they could actually stay on-message for more than five seconds at a time.
Maybe it’s just like bullies, they know deep down that they are garbage, so they have to tear other people down to make themselves feel superior?
“When is it gonna end?” he implored.
I’m starting to think that it’s time for another Union-brand asswhipping.
