Unarmed civilians though.
Unarmed civilians though.
Unarmed civilians trying to jump over a fence aren’t soldiers of a hostile foreign state, and if it is legal anywhere for you to shoot unarmed people for jumping over your fence “domestically,” it shouldn’t be.
I think most of these films are old enough now that kids can be taught to view them as products of a different age. Just think about how misogynistic classic Hollywood films are. I grew up watching leading actors smack women across the face and grab and shake them, and never thought that this was an acceptable way to…
There’s so much packed into Coming to America that the “royal penis is clean” line is easily missed, especially since it’s at the start of the movie and is easily forgotten by the time you’ve sat through the rest of the film.
It’s just occurring to me that I probably never saw the unedited version because I don’t own a copy of the film, just used to watch it on Comedy Central back when they had it in constant rotation.
The racists actually created their own knockoff of gofundme since gofundme started disabling some of their crowdsourcing efforts.
I’m in academia and have seen some scary shit on Facebook. People whose work I respect and worldview I agree with will, out of the blue, “like” something horrible and absolutely bigoted, or pile onto a comment section with the most trite bullshit. And if you get offended you’re accused of not respecting free dialogue.
Yeah, but I see people doing more environmentally damaging stuff every day and don’t call the police on them. I did once call the police on some people who were littering, but that’s because they were throwing kind of heavy things out their window on a crowded highway and could have killed someone.
Yeah but they could have just privately told Trump they’d confirm a torturer candidate other than Haspel, someone who would at least be subtle about it and not have a documented history of torturing people.
I have to say I’m amazed there was more material in that diary yet to be uncovered. I had assumed researchers had pored over it enough that they’d found everything. Is there more that the Anne Frank House is waiting for improved technology to help reveal?
It’s not just this site though. Op-Eds are dangerous. They tend to be featured with the leading headlines and many readers don’t realize that they’re written by people with strong stakes in whatever they’re arguing for or against. This especially bothers me with the Washington Post. For Washington insiders it’s…
I was reading an article this morning, pretty sure in the New York Times, that quoted an Israeli general complaining about how deliberately inadequate the preparations had been for countering this demonstration. Can’t find the article now, just something on Haaretz about how the Israeli government had determined in…
Warning someone you’re going to murder them if they jump over a fence doesn’t give you carte blanche to murder anyone jumping over the fence.
This whole notion of having a right to take over any land that some of your ancestors lived on thousands of years ago sounds to me like a long con plot for white supremacists to reconquer Africa.
See, I don’t need to bother citing exactly what I’m talking about (which I can’t because I’m honestly not that familiar with Native American history) because we both already know it’s the case.
Yes. From the article:
I dunno, you could try reading the actual treaties the United State signed with the various tribes that were living on the land.
Exactly. Israel knew about this for weeks, and has known for months about the embassy move. They had plenty of time to come up with a better deterrence plan than firing at a crowd of civilians with snipers, but they chose not to bother.
I don’t like the sound of that either, but flying a swastika flag isn’t a capital offense (or at least shouldn’t be one).
Why do you care?
