They fired her for that? Her reaction was so adorable. :-(Also. she was only zoned out for just a second. If it wasn’t for her gasp, we wouldn’t even have noticed.

Caitlyn seems like...not a great person.

Geez, I’m a little outraged too. What a crappy and short-sighted reason to fire someone. It was funny and relatable.

The other week some guy on the BBC effing dropped a pound coin during a break for weather or something (they were about to talk about the new design) and when the camera came back to him he was crawling around the floor looking for it! Everyone thought it was hilarious and they got tons of viral PR about it. They were

It looks life the laughing one is on channel 10? So maybe not as comparable as people are making it (except maybe to show there are more issues involved). Although firing does seeem excessive...

Awww, she recovered so professionally, too! I would have been swearing and having my bra straps slide all over the place.

Wasn’t it a teleprompter error? Why was she fired? So ridiculous.

I’m outraged!

Kinda shows why fair and equal treatment needs to be legislated.

Over that? Good grief, do they have real problems in Australia? This is such a tiny blip of a thing, it deserves a quiet warning to be more prepared, next time... certainly not a firing.

The ABC are denying that she’s been fired. According to The Guardian this one was the latest in a few mistakes so she got a dressing down but they will give her additional training and bring her back on the air later. I think she was the one who cracked up laughing during a story about people dying a while back.

So short sided. And so witless. Any savy media person would have recognized the potential not-paid-for-attention this could have garnered your brand. Hello ? Any publicity is good you dumb asses !

She got fired for this and people here are outraged on her behalf.

Fucking rude :/

That is horrible. This has happened to so many news anchors, that firing them for it just seems extra dickish.

What the fuck? People live for bloopers in the U.S. and they know it when it happens. No one gets fired.

They fired her for a second and a half mistake? Christ. It would be one thing if she was totally out of it for minutes or cussing at someone but this didn’t even really delay the broadcast.

Now playing

So, apparently, this is not a first infraction. Personally, I find her likable. (Maybe she’s just too smart for this gig?) And I certainly don’t think any man would be fired for similar infractions. But I’m sure this is playing into ABC’s decision.

Noooooooo! She is so cute and I think her recovery was awesome. Who do I write!?!

That seems unfair. Isn’t someone supposed to tell her that they are coming back to her?
