I'd say they're equally bad in their own ways. You can't compare the two except for the detail that two people unnecessarily suffered because the comedians in their lives were too lazy to write better jokes.

True but I think that’s because Sedaris sticks to the older intellectual crowd. I suspect younger generations would find him mean spirited as I did when I stopped reading his stuff.

But he was still very much doing a bad thing: mocking drug abuse and mental illness, which plays up stigma. It’s even worse because Tiffany asked David to stop, and he refused.

He didn't exactly go to great lengths to conceal her identity either. If you're going to exaggerate or embellish for a joke, at least make the other person unidentifiable.

David Sedaris made an entire living doing the same thing, and he was also called out by journalists who fact checked his stories, which made no difference. If these allegations are what bring him down, great, but I wish he'd gotten pushed out because of all the lies he told and "sting operations" that really were dress up for rich guys.

No episode of the Morning Show would be complete without one of the characters making a VERY BIG SPEECH about doing something only to do the exact opposite of what they swore they’d do (off screen, of course). I assume this season also includes these VERY DRAMATIC SPEECHES!
