Ok so are Domhnall Gleeson and Margot Robbie on a mission to drown us in twee British ~films~ so saccharine that all my teeth instantly fall out and I develop diabetes on the spot? Because this is the third one.
And why is Margot Robbie suddenly even in the stable of British actors when she’s a frikkin Aussie?? There

Most actors and actresses have “bad mouthed” Trump at this point.

Jennifer Lawrence is like Scarlett Johansson, where she’s only “bankable” when she’s in a strong movie as a member of an ensemble cast. When she’s leading movies herself, they’ve pretty much all been under-performers or bombs. Outside of Hunger Games, obviously, but even those started to bring in diminishing returns.

I sorry A.V.Club, I just can’t get engaged in discussion here anymore. Really sad, but this article would have had been interacting for ages pre-Gawkerning. Now I know I’ll post a comment and maybe it won’t even get read because it’ll be gray. R.I.P. A.V.Club convo.

I’m not judging her for not knowing about Tonya Harding. I’m judging her based on the interviews I’ve read and watched with her. And I’m saying based on those, it doesn’t surprise me that she also doesn’t know about this.

Atomic Blonde was good. It was way better than Lucy in every possible way. So if you liked Lucy, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with Atomic.

They bootlegged Black Widow for both plot and character, then ripped off Atomic Blonde’s fashion and hair aesthetics. Boooo!

Why would anyone want to watch this when Proud Mary comes out barely a few weeks before it anyway? If you must watch another sexy wig-wearing spy gal movie anyway.

And also, and I don’t mean it to sound catty, but she doesn’t come across that ‘smart’ either. In that I mean she often comes across as quite blasé and... surfacey, which makes it seem like she doesn’t really know about much stuff not immediate to her.

I lived and worked in Australia and yeah, they enjoy figure skating there. It’s not some obscure thing and the scandal was big enough and weird enough to make news and stay in pop culture. The rest of the world isn’t as ignorant to events outside its own country as the US is, especially in countries like Australian

Based on my experience, both the UK, SA, and Australia know about Harding and are interested in figure-skating generally. Harding was more famous as an actual person behind the scandal, because it was such a bizarre thing to happen and she was such an odd character with a complex history besides.

God if there’s any more proof of this being a cynical grab for awards attention its the lead actress admitting she had no prior knowledge of, let alone emotional connection to, the person who’s sad and complex life she’s attempting to portray.

It’s been in pop culture references since the 90s. It was a really famous scandal.

Hopefully she has. Or if this hasn’t, the polarizing reviews out of TIFF will. Critics from Variety absolutely HATED it. Said it was stupid and disrespectful.

And you, the one true intellectual, a rando on the internet, who saw the truth hundreds of industry professionals as well as the majority of general audiences could not. What a hero.

What can I say. I hate when people are wrong.

How about The Golden Globes then? Or The Screen Actors Guild, or The Berlin Film Festival, or The Independent Spirit Awards, or The Critic Choice Awards, or The National Society of Film Critics Awards. Because she won all those, among others.
And Roger Ebert was the one who said her role in Monster was one of the

Fury Road was rightly nominated for Best Picture and won 6 Oscars after being nominated for 10. It scored 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. You are in the minority buddy.

Theron has two Oscar nominations and an Oscar win for what is considered one of the greatest acting performances in the history of cinema. Get out of here with “not the greatest actress”.

It’s not calculated. Most of it comes from Breitbart. But the media using the constantly moronic things Breitbart wieners say as clickbait fodder is.

It amazes me just how easily people conflate actors with the characters they play. No one gave a crap about Gal and defending her views before Wonder Woman came out. Now it’s like they think she is Wonder Woman, and not an actress everyone thought was pretty mediocre to poor, but kind of fun in Fast and Furious, with
