No yearly state vehicle inspection in Florida is why that’s allowed to happen, eh?

At least the battery is also way forward and up high too.
We were at a track with the TG boys a few years back (at VIR, see S15 E07.) All were good, none were excellent. Clarkson in particular did a lot of drifting and kicking up dirt, and Hammond almost had a big crash in the climbing esses. That said, it’s pretty clear that they drive on the show for entertainment more…
When we do these still shots on road courses we usually use a pickup truck, or a hatchback (GTI etc) with the rear open, sitting or lying down. Same idea as above but much easier to procure :-)
I think it’s the organizers who get paid to require a Peniston Oils or whatever sticker on all the cars entered in their expensive “road rally”, not so the drivers themselves get any sponsorship or money. I think.
Except in this case they’re paying many thousands of dollars to be part of a “road rally” and many of the stickers are provided/required for entrants as part of a package the organizer sold. Not so the drivers/owners themselves can make any money off said sponsorship. That’s my understanding anyway, maybe I’m wrong,…
Now that I think about it, why isn’t there a WRX powered Crosstrek? Since there is no WRX wagon anymore, seems like it would sell. I guess it would be too expensive perhaps? Hmmm.
5-speed Crosstreks are available, we bought my GF one last summer after not really liking the CVT. Had to travel 4hrs each way to find a dealer with a three-pedal one in stock, though...
Lol, so true. I really wanted to like the Dart, then I put 600 miles on a rental one and couldn’t wait to give it back. That type of car done correctly is called the Mazda3...
Seriously. The only gripe about an otherwise great all-around car imho
Didn’t handle much better than one either. Wanted to love the 6-liter GTO soooo much, but I have never driven a stock vehicle so badly in need of better suspension and more tire...
Dually drifting is soooo 10 years ago on the skidpad at Road Atlanta,
Not a F-car expert here by any means but the ones I’ve been in over the years all did... actually I can’t think of a three-pedal one that doesn’t... and from memory the Porsche 928 was like that too. Also maybe the BMW 2002 (or 320i?)
And not just some touring laps at NJMP in his Hummer, either ;-)
Love that vid, especially because I have a white ‘04 on similar wheels. And agreed, after two test-drives I didn’t fall in love with the E9x like many did. Come to think of it, the E36 M3 (sedan in particular) is still my favorite in terms of living with it everyday, I’ve had several over the years. Excellent at…
Although I agree with the sentiment here, I’d say analog in an M3 = E30 definitely or E36 maybe. Meanwhile the Bentley repair manual for that E46 is 1424 pages long...
On the plus side, at least this Cars & Coffee Championship winner was actually being driven?
Agreed - and if that’s all it was, would it really be this car’s fault? I mean maybe yes because it’s so low with probably pretty sticky tires and not a lot of clearance inside the wheels etc, so it’s got a much greater chance of catching pebbles than a Suburban or whatever. But a rock stuck behind a brake shield has…
I don’t know much about towing & recovery, but... I’m sure there must be some logical reason why they pulled it free sideways by the wheels instead of straight backward from a tow hook or lower control arm or whatever?
Love it. Especially in white. Too bad the only “competition” it will ever see is for the number of dudes taking pics of the seat belts at Cars & Coffee...
