The market says it’s not a good track for drifting or anything else. 95% of groups/clubs that regularly run Summit or VIR don’t run at Dominion for a list of reasons.

Many of the HPDE groups offer racing as well (BMW CCA, Porsche Club, NASA) and require you to climb the ladder of their school program first which can take many weekends. The Skippy and Bondurant schools don’t even remotely prepare you for getting a racing license in 2-3 days compared to the modern “learn to drive

HDPE is a type of plastic. ;-)

Warning - you might just have more fun at a HPDE, and learn more too ;-)

Is it... because he is a funded driver? (Spoiler alert: yes.)

All of VIR is at least four Spec Miatas wide, how much more space do the pros need? LOL

Yep. I’ve put nearly 100k miles on two great 3/4/5 examples in the last 12 years. Still prob my fave all around car. Would buy another but they’re not worth 9-12k to me now (the last one I bought, in 2012, was 7 grand.)

Summit Point is still around (and has three tracks now) i was there recently. The track doesnt rent racecars but plenty of guys/shops on premises and nearby do. Mostly spec miatas i believe. A weekend in HPDE green group level 1 in one of those with a good instructor should be mandatory for everyone, the roads would

That was actually one of my favorite things about Autobahn the few times I went up there - staying on premises, and the 2 minute commute from the paddock after a long event day. Anyway, it’s been done elsewhere for sure. Condo villas on the climbing esses at VIR come to mind and I think they have done or are doing

Had a ‘14 FoST. Good car and was easy to find w/major discounts off sticker. Practical to own/use and it was a riot to drive hard. Had some minor gripes (torque steer, worse mpg’s than expected, small gas tank, meh paint/fit & finish) and one major one (unreliability.) Replaced it after a year...

Glad you had fun but whoever let that happen is an idiot. Parade laps are supposed to stay at or under highway speeds for a long list of reasons (starting with: no helmets, no tech, no instruction, no driver requirements or training, very easy way to have crashes & get people hurt, etc.) Please, let your next

Thanks for this, if I ever get into the website I’ll use it as a guide. Got my invitation code email the other day and it doesnt work, just says invalid. Which doesnt matter because most times the opening page does nothing except loop the background video forever, clicking on the blue “sign in with Facebook” button

Two things may have led to your spin that were beyond your control: 1) not providing in-car instruction all day which lets novices develop bad habits quickly; 2) offering post-session lap time results which can make inexperienced drivers push harder before they have the skill and seat time to do so safely. Maybe find

Lemme guess, you had to hang back and “get a run” to go that fast on f--king PARADE LAPS

1) They were talking about a Fiesta ST and I don’t think one of those will keep up with a new GTI in any contest of speed. Car & Driver’s “Lightning Lap” agrees.

I’ve done matte black dipped wheels on two of my cars in the last few years. Initially done only so I didn’t have to clean brake dust as often, but I’ve grown to like the look. I’ve also found the key is to properly mask and respray every time you rotate (for me that’s every 5k during an oil change.) One or two cans a

The best is when they do the whole wheel, some of the tire sidewall, lug nuts and center cap and whatever brake caliper or rotor they happen to spray also.

A GTI (the new one anyway) is also faster than an ST at everything except depreciation. +1 for this is your Camry of hot hatches
